How I Started My Saturday
Today is supposed to be my last day of personal tutoring class before I take just few days break to celebrate the Chinese New Year with the family. I was all geared up to go for it and even left house earlier to draw money for angpaos. However, I was greeted by a message from my students' mother that they want off for today, saying that it has been tiring for me with the intensive classes for them for the past 2 weeks. I am actually okay and looking forward to do experiments with them as they have requested. Yesterday too, another student cancelled on me which these makes me feel a bit disappointed and frustrated. First of all, I don't mind doing class till the day before Chinese New Year. Secondly, whenever they suddenly cancel class, it affects my income as every penny counts, to me. Honestly I really do not like cancellation of classes and I try my best to not cancel on them.
ANYWAY.... enough of ranting. Many more things to do and manage today.
I decided to change the mood of how I was feeling to see if I have anymore things to buy for CNY. I entered a mall without my boys today and it was really early so there was no crowd too. It is a bit difficult to visit some clothing store with my firstborn as he dislikes manneiquins so he will not enter any shop that has it. Thus I took opportunity today. Walking around looking at some clothes and not buying anything makes me proud of myself because I am refraining from impulsive buying. Also went past a nail saloon and was cobtemplating if I should do my nails but decided not to. Need to use the money wisely for other purposes.
So I went for window shopping and I really was not attracted to buy anything! On the other hand, I enjoyed looking at the Chinese New Year decorations at the KL East Mall which is just some 10 minutes drive away from home.
There is a giant pao and a giant vintage water flask! I FIND THESE SO CUTE!
It is actually a little hut!
Look at how they set up a vintage CNY theme this year. I am sure these items will bring reminiscences to especially my parents and in-laws' generation.
Even the concierge was decorated so nicely.
This is an old trishaw which added the extra touch to the decorations.
Some old black discs of the older generation.
An old radio with cassettes.
Old refrigerator really brings out the vintage feeling.
Bird cages as the older Chinese generations love to keep birds as their pets and will bring them to restaurant when they meet up their peers.
So glad to see these decorations because I am one who likes to look at all of these in the mall when it hits some festive season.
Here is a selfie taken with the lion dance head.
This mall is indeed a gem to us as it is so near and it is packed with good food and shops for different purposes like bookshops, clothing and even sports equipment and attire. I AM SO HAPPY IT IS NEAR ME and I need not travel far to visit a comparable mall.
