Water Fasting
Water fasting as we all know is an ancient practice that has recently gained modern traction due to its potential health benefits. This method is easy and involves consuming only water for a period of time, ranging from 17 hours to several days. Of course, it depends on your health and condition. As well as the goals that you want to achieve from fasting. Although it may seem extreme, fasting in general is deeply rooted in various cultures and religions and often undertaken for spiritual clarity or detoxification. Today, I will explain this method, as I am already fasting for few days and share my experience with you.
Water fasting means abstaining from all food and drink except water. Of course you need to buy high quality water that would benefit your body in the days of your fast. During this period, the body relies on its stored energy reserves to function. The duration of the fast can vary widely and I started with the common length of 24 hours then increased to 48 hours then 72 hours. I am planning to extend it next time to a week, but for such a prolonged fasting I should be at home, working, resting and getting enough sleep. And more important, enough water!
People choose to water fast for many personal reasons. And it is proven that fast helps the body eliminate toxins, allowing it to focus on repairing and rejuvenating itself rather than digesting food. So, if you love food like me, give it a break! Also weight loss is another significant reason, as the body burns fat for energy during a fast. However, this weight loss can be temporary, and maintaining a healthy weight might in some cases require long-term lifestyle changes, healthy food and meditation.
Research suggests that fasting, may promote longevity, improve metabolic health and reduce inflammation. And from my experience I can say that I have a heightened mental clarity and focus while fasting. Well, I am a foodie and had a long history of eating sweets every single day. Besides, having three meals plus snacks. So, I started with intermittent fasting for two weeks before I moved to water fasting. And the good news is that I lost weight, my body is fit like never before and my skin is fresh and clear. I also feel happy, less stressed and full of energy. The only problem is falling asleep as I have enough energy lately and probably my body doesn't need a long sleep like before.
When you stop eating and only drink water, your body undergoes several metabolic changes as I mentioned. Initially, it uses glucose for energy. And once glucose stores are depleted and that is typically within 24 hours, your body begins to burn fat for energy, producing ketones in a process called ketosis. Now ketosis can help preserve muscle mass and is linked to various health benefits, including improved mental clarity and reduced inflammation. Therefore, I suggest you watch the videos of Dr. Berg, Dr. Mindy Pelz, Dr. Jason Fung and Dr. Pradip Jamnadas for more information about the benefits of fasting and how to do it the right way. Also, about the illnesses that can be healed with this method. Also to research every term like I did for better understanding.
Now water fasting has numerous benefits and one significant benefit is autophagy, a process where the body cleans out damaged cells and regenerates new ones, potentially reducing the risk of cancer and promoting longevity. This is why I chose to do it in the first place and why I suggest you try it as well. Besides, this method can also improve insulin sensitivity, which helps regulate blood sugar levels and may even prevent type 2 diabetes that many people around the globe are suffering from. Some studies also suggest that fasting can enhance heart health by reducing cholesterol levels, blood pressure and inflammation. Additionally, it may boost brain function and protect against neurodegenerative diseases.
Despite its potential benefits, water fasting is not without risks. Prolonged fasting can also lead to deficiencies in essential nutrients, such as vitamins and minerals. Therefore you should watch the videos I suggested to understand which supplements are allowed or needed while fasting. Besides, some people may become dehydrated if they don’t drink enough water while fasting. I observed myself and can tell you, that my body got used to the fasting process and I dont feel hungry at all. But I try to drink water whenever I can even if I dont feel really thirsty. Further, individuals with certain medical conditions, such as diabetes, eating disorders or heart problems, should talk to their doctors and gather enough information before starting. Lastly, common side effects of fasting can include dizziness or fatigue. For some people also headaches, but I experienced that only in the first day.
If you decide to try water fasting, I will give you some tips to ensure you do it safely. But before starting a fast, especially if you have underlying health conditions, you need to consult a healthcare professional. And if you are new to fasting, start with shorter fasts, like 17 or 24 hours, and gradually increase the duration when you feel comfortable. Also drink plenty of good water to stay hydrated, listen to your body and rest when you need to. And finally, when you end your fast, start with small, easily digestible foods, such as fruits or broths, to ease your digestive system back into normal eating. Avoid sweets and food full of sugar. Also, pay attention to how you feel during the fast and to the changes you are experiencing.
Water fasting can be a powerful tool for health and wellness when done correctly and it offers a lot of benefits. However, it’s crucial to approach water fasting with caution, respect your body’s limits and more important seek medical advice if needed. As with any health regimen, what works for one person may not work for another, as we have different bodies, needs and in some cases also illnesses. So do your research, listen to your body and make informed decisions. Whether you are seeking spiritual enlightenment, a health reboot, or a mental clarity boost, this method could be a valuable addition to your wellness journey. And I am pleased to read your comments and learn about your experiences if you tried this method.

It's a very common practice now, at least during some time. I wouldn't really do it, I love water a lot ❤️💧
I drink a lot of because I love it too and dont really feel hungry. Of course, it is not a practice that we can do for a very long time. But for a short time to reboot the body.
I need to try this. Would be great to start small maybe water fast to dinner vs a full day of crazyyyy.
Yes! It sounds maybe difficult but it isn't. Or you can start with intermittent fasting and that means you fast for 17 hours minimum and only drink water. The healing occurs when you fast for more than 17 hours. When I do intermittent fasting, I start the fast usually after 10 o'clock at night until next day 6 or 7 o'clock in the evening. So, I eat healthy food in those 4 hours and have my coffee. I won't feel hunger that way. But you have to pick up the right time for you depending on your work and schedule to not feel tired.
