Memories

When I look back on my life,
And search for memories that were bright,
It feels like a daunting task,
For joyous moments are too few to ask.

Pain and sorrow seem to fill my mind,
Tears and sadness so hard to leave behind,
Agony and struggles weigh heavy on my heart,
As if happiness was only a fleeting part.

I've lived for many years, that's true,
But most of it seems like a blur, it's true,
The moments that stand out are few,
As if life was just passing through.

Yet, I know that I must look ahead,
And embrace the future with open stead,
For even if the past was mostly blue,
The future holds promise and hope anew.
