The Great Greenhouse Cleanup!

This was actually one of the hardest days on the homestead. Not because of the garden cleanup but because of what happened before it.

As you might know I have my Karelian Bear Dog Kintla but I also have two others who are a friends that I’ve been taking care of on the homestead. Being that I have a lot of land I thought why not take them in while they are moving and take care of them. What I didn’t know is how untrained, raw and primal these dogs are. Today was hard for me as they went after a cat that’s been on the homestead and what I don’t want is these dogs just going after and killing cats just for fun/sport. I just don’t vibe with that and being that they have no recall pulling them off of their hunt has become extremely dangerous and something I’m still trying to figure out how to deal with.

On a more possitive note this vlog is not about that but instead a huge milestone at the Gubba homestead! The great greenhouse cleanup!

I was blessed to have this greenhouse come with the homestead when I bought it. This was the first time I looked inside of it to see how much cleaning might need to be done lol. To my surprise it’s actually a nice little greenhouse I’ll most likely be starting seeds in before transplanting them to the garden in the spring.

This is only part one I still have another side of the greenhouse to go for cleaning but it’s getting there! I picture a clean, no clutter greenhouse I can walk into and enjoy seeing all the new life that is blooming inside.

I’d love to hear some ideas from you all about what I should grow or use the greenhouse for. Being that I’m a first time homesteader only 3 months so far all feedback and suggestions are welcomed! I’ve gotten so much encouragement and help from you all and I love it. Thank you!

Ha!... your experience with those homestead dogs is actually hilarious. I can only imagine the fun y'all must have had. That was nice of you to take em in though.

I'm actually glad you decided to donate the pots instead of throwing them away. I'm sure there are a lot of pot enthusiasts out there that'll appreciate it.

Now about the greenhouse... you can probably plant carrots, lettuce, spinach, tomatoes, kale, or even eggplants. They should be easy enough to grow. Also, you should try growing some lemongrass around to repel hornets. If not, those hornet carcasses you cleaned out wouldn't be the last of its set. Ahh...looks like you might be needing those pots after all.

I think something got mixed up with the encoding for some reason on this upload as I got the error myself for a while but seems to be ok now?

A five gallon bucket of water thrown on a dog tends to stop it from whatever it is doing. As a side note, it is extremely effective at pausing a dog fight too. The colder the water the better, just be sure to get them out of the cold weather afterwards.
