5 Myths About Food Storage
Over the years of building my own food storage here on the Gubba Homestead and sharing it with others there’s a few common questions and what I would call myths about food storage.
In this video I go over the top 5 myths of food storage and address each of them.
What do you think the five are?
If you’re wondering what bundle I’m using from this video check out my course at https://learn.gubbahomestead.com
Myth 1: Food Will Expire
All foods have best by dates which I would consider more of a guideline and security measure for the packaging company. Foods stored in methods like canning can often go years past their best by date. Always rely on your sense of smell and sight when determining if the food is still good.
Myth 2: Only For Americans
This one makes me laugh and is so crazy to me. Building security in food storage is something I believe everyone should do. It prepares you for anything life may throw your way. Something as simple as a job loss or something as extreme as a natural disaster.
Myth 3: Storage Is Selfish
Many people think preppers like myself building a food storage are the ones running to stores and clearing the shelfs. Do you really think I’ll be going to the store during some type of crazy emergency clearing the shelfs? Or will I instead be at home comfortably living off the food storage I built up over the years?
Myth 4: Food Storage Is Hard
Having a plan for food storage and knowing where to start can be a challenge. Luckily for you I created a bundle and a course at http://learn.gubbahomestead.com This course also includes the bundle of printables to help you and I tossed in 10 delicious pickled egg recipes along with the video training.
Myth 5: Food Storage Is Expensive
If done wrong food storage can be expensive however shopping for deals or buy one get one free over time is a great way to start building your food storage. Think about it if you picked up an extra can when they are on sale each week you’d have 52 cans in your mid/long term food storage in a year!

Hahahaha an extension of the grocery shop but in your house. It's very good because if a zombie attack comes, you have enough reserves.
I'm just kidding... Hahaha
I just wanted to say that I love your videos and they help me a lot to practice my English. It's amazing that I understand you perfectly. I am Cuban.
Greetings from Havana
PS. How I would like to have something like this, but here the thing is very very complicated hahaha.
Thank you! I'm glad you're enjoying the videos. I hope you're able to setup at least a small amount of food storage or grow your own crops. Every little bit helps

Well about point 3; it isn't selfish per se, but if you go out and buy whole supermarkets empty, then it is lol
But otherwise it is always smart to have something prepared in case of the unknown, or being lazy to go out to get food
Cheers

My favorite cheese is provolone. The first time I ordered it here https://www.gourmetfoodstore.com/cheese-and-butter/provolone and after that I fell in love with this cheese. Like most Italian cheeses, Provolone has simple ingredients but rich flavor. Most versions are pasteurized and gluten-free, with no added fillers or preservatives. Traditional provolone is not suitable for vegetarians due to the addition of veal rennet. Be sure to always check the label.
