Milk My Goat With Me! Just TWO Generations Is All It Took
It only took TWO generations for us to become completely disconnected from our food.
Instead of growing our own food or connecting locally with farmers, we are okay with the food industry putting funky ingredients in our foods that are lab-made. Truly, Frankenstein food. It all started with reading the ingredients on the back of my store-bought bread. When you realize bread should only have a few ingredients but the label at the store lists twenty or more, you start to wonder why. Our body reacts to how we treat it, so is it any coincidence that mental and physical illnesses are on the rise along with atrocious eating habits? How did we get here?
I was extremely disconnected from my food by being vegetarian for a majority of my life. I got hit with the animal rights videos young and didn’t realize that by not consuming meat, I was making myself sick. Consuming factory and big-farm meat would have also made me sick. The problem was I had no connection to my food. Now I do, and my meat is raised locally on farms where I see the animals grazing happily. They are not fed garbage and I interact with their caretakers. I invest in my health by investing locally.
This discussion makes people upset because they feel they are being judged. Instead, take accountability and turn to your community. Find local resources and put your foot down to big-food and say no more! No more will I willingly consume harmful man-made chemicals. No more will I let my family eat gunk! No more!
What is wild to me is the same people who love to yell at me that raw milk is dangerous are the same people who give their kids fruit loops for breakfast.
Research your ingredients and maybe you will end up on a homestead journey milking goats for raw milk too!

Great content as always. Your animals seem like a handful but it's probably because they all want to be part of the action.

Another great share, thanks for letting us enjoy the chaos, lol! You live an incredible lifestyle. I'm moving to a tiny studio apartment soon and won't have a veggie garden any more:( Happy to get to see you and your homestead posts here. It helps keep me motivated to one day own land again...
You'll get there soon enough! and there's many things you can still do in your studio apartment to stay connected to those roots. Food storage, growing a few herbs. Don't lose that connect :)
I do have a bunch of freeze dried meals in a bucket. And some windowsill herbs is indeed on the shopping list! Thyme, rosemary, and Italian parsley... You can harvest just a little bit and still keep it growing. But I'm going to miss my snap peas, radishes, zucchinis, and the big variety of lettuces. Most everything else is incredibly difficult here at high elevations. The squirrels and deer make it even harder. Sprinklers on a motion sensor help but then the occasional cold frosty night can ruin everything if you don't get your frost blankets out. It's challenging, but fun!
