The Chicks Are Growing Up

One of my all time favorite moments here on the Gubba Homestead was watching these little chicks hatch.

A total of seven of the 12 hatched with one being born too early and not making it. That was a heart breaking moment but also an amazing feeling seeing the other six come to life.

Here’s a few pictures of them. They are all random breeds so I could see how each of them does and how they work with each other. So far the white leghorns have been the meanest of the bunch and surprisingly me and the rooster are chill.

In another month or two as the weather warms up into spring I’ll be introducing these new chicks to the flock. However I might keep them separated from the other group in terms of fencing until they are bigger and can hold their own.

This is my first time raising chicks and a bit of a learning curve as I go.

Out of all the chicks if I had to pick a favorite it might be the one with hairy feet! Lol

How cute, when I was little in my family's house there were many chickens, it is difficult when they are small because they are very vulnerable and fragile.

These all are cute especially which one is black in color. When i was a kid i used to buy a chick and look after of them as i can 🙂
