Last year the garden on the homestead got away from me. I was only able to grow some berries which were already here and some garlic I had planted earlier in the year. This was mainly because of all the projects I had going on with the new homestead to get it ready and out of the disarray it was in.

You can check out my vlog from the early days on the homestead here…

How To Sheet Compost Your Garden

Since then I’ve had a cow that supplied me with so much milk, two calves born on the homestead, two bee hives and chickens! It's been busy to say the least.

This year I want to make sure I dedicate more time to the garden and get that up and running well. The goal is to produce at least 100 pounds of food from the garden.

From the pictures you can see I’ve start seed starting which is a powerful way to get your garden started early indoors and make your “growing season” last longer. While that’s happening I’m out prepping the garden beds and the blackberry bushes for spring which is coming! This winter has felt so long and so brutally cold.

You’ll also see my bees are our foraging already and over the weekend I got three more hives which I just added to the homestead (vlog coming soon)
