It was a good life. Gerald thought as he awaited the headsman. Giving his life trying to feed his children... that was a good death.

Was it just? No. But justice had long left this land.

"And now!" The herald boomed over the crowd. "The King's Justice!"

The axe fell.

Trying to feed and care for his family. It was a good life Gerald lived, and his family will honor him in his death. No, sometimes life situations are not just.
