Soy amante de los cactus, en los lugares donde hay de estas plantitas estaré yo feliz tomándole fotografías y observando sus detalles, simplemente me encantan. Sin embargo no he coleccionado a muchos de ellos porque viajaba mucho de un sitio a otro (por la universidad que queda en otro estado) y no podía llevármelos conmigo.

However, I have not collected many of them because I travel a lot from one place to another (because of the university that is in another state) and I could not take them with me.
Hace muchos años una de mis hermanas me regaló un pequeño cactus redondo, verde claro muy bonito, le puse por nombre Tré, ya que en ese momento era muy fan de una banda llamada Green day y el baterista usaba el cabello hacia arriba y llevaba ese apodo, así que lo llamé como él en su honor. Tré creció y se multiplicó en muchísimos cactus de todos tamaños que he ido observando poco a poco. Este cactus estuvo en mi casa cuando yo no estaba y era muy independiente, le gusta bastante el agua a diferencia de otros cactus que tienden a secarse o pudrirse cuando le añaden tanta agua.
Many years ago one of my sisters gave me a small round cactus, very nice light green, I named it Tré, because at that time I was a big fan of a band called Green day and the drummer wore his hair up and had that nickname, so I named it after him in his honor. Tré grew and multiplied into many, many cacti of all sizes that I have been watching little by little. This cactus was in my house when I was away and was very independent, it likes water quite a bit unlike other cactus that tend to dry out or rot when so much water is added.

I named it Billie, to continue with the names of the members of Green Day, and this time in honor of the vocalist Billie Joe, who is the smallest of them all, it was the perfect name. That year I had an emergency: I had to undergo kidney surgery, I was out for almost a month and when I returned Billie had died. It hurt me a lot, and I understood that he was very delicate and dependent.

This year a month ago, I visited my older sister in a nearby city and together with my other sister (there are four of us in total) we visited the parents of some friends who left the country and live in that city. We talked for hours and climbed a ladder to the roof of their house, and I was amazed! She has a collection of cacti and succulents of all sizes, shapes, colors and types; she also knows about their care and other plants: fruit and flower plants. IT WAS PARADISE
Yo estaba feliz, y me quedé observandolos mientras él me decía sus nombres científicos (no los pude memorizar, son algo difíciles) y contaba sus historias de cómo habían llegado hasta ahí. Algunos fueron comprados pero la mayoría fueron por intercambio con otros amantes de las plantas en un grupo al que él pertenece. Félix me obsequió dos cactus, uno parecido a Tré, solo que menos redondo, al que llamé Mike, para completar los integrantes de la banda por fin (😆) y uno alargado pequeño con las espinas trenzadas como formando unas margaritas, es por esto que lo llamé asi: Margarita.
I was happy, and stood watching them as he told me their scientific names (I couldn't memorize them, they are somewhat difficult) and told his stories of how they got there. Some were purchased but most were exchanged with other plant lovers in a group he belongs to. Felix gave me two cacti, one similar to Tré, only less round, which I called Mike, to complete the members of the band at last (😆) and a small elongated one with the spines braided as if forming daisies, that is why I called it that: Margarita
Adicional a esto, me obsequió hijos de varias suculentas de diferentes colores y me explicó que debía dejar secar su raíz y luego plantarla, ya que de lo contrario tienden a pudrirse. También me dijo que debía regarle con agua solo cuando la tierra donde estén esté seca totalmente y que los mantuviera en un ambiente abierto donde les pegue el sol pero no directamente, así controlo mejor cuanto toman de agua.
In addition to this, he gave me children of several succulents of different colors and explained that I should let their roots dry and then plant them, otherwise they tend to rot. He also told me that I should water them with water only when the soil where they are is completely dry and that I should keep them in an open environment where the sun hits them but not directly, so I can better control how much water they take.
Asi que amigos, estoy contenta. Ahora estoy tan emocionada que planeo plantar los hijos de mis tres cactus en macetas aparte para que tengan mas libertad para crecer. Espero contarles pronto sobre mis suculentas y sobre estos hermosos cactus que he adoptado. ¡Ya me siento la señora de las plantas! 🤣
