My Dressing Gave Me This Nickname

Hello friend, happy weekend. I hope you are fine? and your weekend is going as planned? Circumstances beyond my control made me not write about the two topics this week of the @hivelearners. My phone was having issues. I am glad I am able to partake in the 3rd edition of week 66 prompt.

Nicknames are usually given by you or people around you. It can be a short form or your name or a name given because of how you act or your personality. I loved being called Vicky for short but then Victoria is what I am mainly known for in my area while at home I am called my native name by my parents.

I also bear a nickname in my department and faculty that makes me more different and easier to identify. The nickname “Mummy GO" was given to me by my lecturer. That was around my year 1. It made me close to the lecturer and became one of his favorite students who he looks out for when he's in class. He gave me that name because he noticed that out of all the girls in my class I seem to be exceptional in my dress, which is neat and decent.

I come from a serious Christian family who frowns at wearing trousers. So when I got to school I had just skirts and a gown. Many times I was asked if I attend "Deeper life" which I don't, because the church is known to be holy and doesn't accept all those things. I don't attend the church but still attend a Pentecostal church. I'm a Levite so my parents won't let us do all of that.
As much as I am privileged to come from a Christian family I will never judge whosoever that dresses like that. I still have friends like that and I know they are good people too.

It was an afternoon when a lecturer came into the class and noticed me. He asked me why I don't like wearing trousers and always dress responsibly. He started calling me that and my course joined then other ears in the same level but different departments heard the name and joined.

I like that the name is associated with something positive but then I hate the name. I'm not really a spiritual person or this churchy type. I love God so much but I think that name gives me a response to be perfect.
Sometimes when I do or act in a way, someone will say "mummy GO, even you? Ok ume I shouldn't act that way because am not human right? 😂
I prefer being called my name. I hate pretense or hypocrisy.

Till now I am still called that tho but I am not as it was at that time. I tell anyone who calls me that to stop but definitely not anyone will 😂 some wants to taste your patient. I have to live with it and that wouldn't stop me from living my normal life and still being that good girl I am known for.
