La imagen que nos presenta nuestro amigo @lanzjose está semana me es muy familiar. Me hace regresar al pasado, a mis tiempos de estudiante de escuela primaria.

¡Ah qué tiempos tan bonitos cuando eramos estudiantes!
Cuando se acercaba el reinicio de clases mi mamá salía con cada uno de sus hijos -éramos seis- al centro de la ciudad a buscar los útiles escolares con la lista que nos había entregado la maestra.

En esa época no era como ahora que en cualquier supermercado se consiguen los útiles, habían pocas librerías que vendían todo lo necesario: librería Vogue, Ibérica y librería el estudiante, el resto eran negocios pequeños donde solo vendían algunas cosas.

Mi papá trabajaba en la sanidad y con su sueldo tenia que hacer milagros para dotar a sus seis hijos con los útiles necesarios.

Mi mamá, ama de casa, nos compraba algunos cuadernos, lápices, borrador, sacapuntas pero no le alcanzaba para comprar el libro y otros implementos de la lista y teníamos que quitarlo prestado a una vecina que siempre tenia de todo o en su defecto ir a la biblioteca pública si necesitábamos consultar un libro

A pesar de eso, la experiencia de sentir el olor a papel nuevo de los cuadernos y a ropa nueva de los uniformes era grandiosa y yo me ponía ansioso para que llegara rápido el primer día de clases.

La maestra nos exigía forrar los cuadernos y entonces mi mamá nos compraba un papel verde, no recuerdo el nombre. Y unos forros plásticos que ya venían listos para ser usados, además de una etiqueta para cada cuaderno donde se identificaba el nombre, plantel y materia.

El Ministerio de educación ayudaba un poco a paliar la situación porque nos regalaba diez cuadernos y doce lápices Mongol, que eran repartidos en la escuela a cada estudiante. Eso por supuesto era motivo para llegar a casa con una sonrisa de oreja a oreja.

Cuando mi hija tenia edad escolar, ya la cosa era diferente, porque yo tenía mi trabajo y mi esposa también y cuando comprábamos los útiles, no faltaba nada, gracias a Dios. Le comprábamos libretas gruesas para varias materias que venían con bonitas imágenes en la carátula.

Puedo seguirles contando mas de mi vida estudiantil pero esto se hace largo y hay que concluir.

Ah what beautiful times when we were students!
When school was about to start again my mom would go out with each of her children -there were six of us- to the center of the city to get the school supplies with the list that the teacher had given us.

At that time it was not like nowadays, where you can get school supplies in any supermarket, there were few bookstores that sold everything you needed: Vogue bookstore, Ibérica and El estudiante bookstore, the rest were small stores where they only sold a few things.

My father worked in health care and with his salary he had to work miracles to provide his six children with the necessary supplies.

My mother, a housewife, bought us some notebooks, pencils, erasers, pencil sharpeners, but she could not afford to buy the book and other implements on the list and we had to borrow them from a neighbor who always had everything or go to the public library if we needed to consult a book.

In spite of that, the experience of smelling new paper from the notebooks and new clothes from the uniforms was great and I was anxious for the first day of school to arrive quickly.

The teacher required us to line the notebooks and then my mom would buy us a green paper, I don't remember the name. And some plastic liners that came ready to be used, as well as a label for each notebook that identified the name, school and subject.

The Ministry of Education helped a little to alleviate the situation because they gave us ten notebooks and twelve Mongol pencils, which were distributed at school to each student. That of course was a reason to go home with a smile from ear to ear.

When my daughter was of school age, things were different, because I had my job and my wife too, and when we bought the school supplies, nothing was missing, thank God. We bought her thick notebooks for various subjects that came with beautiful pictures on the cover.
