The 6th Day Of Activities in Manticao, The Larong-Lahi Activities

Greetings everyone. This is the 6th day of founding anniversary activities here in Manticao, and as for that there are lots of activities being done for the past few days until tomorrow. For today's blog, I will share the activities happens here in our town this Morning and this is the LARONG-LAHI program. This kind of activities is a kind of traditional games just like Bunong-Braso, Sack Race, Basag Palayok or Pot braking contest and Palo Sebu. Allow me to share all of it here in my article, so that you will be abled to know some old and traditional games here in our Town.

Exactly 9 AM when the activities and games started, and this program is open to all Barangays of Manticao. The players are the Barangay Officials of each place and it really interesting and exciting to watch.

The EMCEE requested to take forward those participants for Bunong-Braso contest. In order for everyone to seen the game, they decided to put two tables at the middle while the players are on both side including those referees. This is a kind of game on which the arms of each players attached together and those player who will lose his strength will lose. Each Barangay have their representative and they started to cheer and yelling while the games was started.

Next game is the sack race. Each player should be inside of an empty sack and jump all around at the starting line going to finish line. Each participants must have 5 members each, and those who finished the tasks will declare wins. People are started laughing about it because some of the players can't be abled to jump more steps while other do their best to win the contest. This games is for Barangay officials also.

In the other side of the Plaza was this great and exciting contest, and this is the Thug-of-War contest. Each opponets needs 5 players holding the long ropes and before this game started, first the committee secured the place so that it will become safe and they pit this yellow line indicated that the people should not step inside of this Areas.

There are lots of people who are very enjoyed watching those games and they keep cheering and shouting on each players. Thug-of-war is also a kind of traditional games here in Manticao, and it already played many years already. With the long rope, the players holds the rope and started to pull with each other until one of the opponents will out balance. The players are the Barangay officials on each places and they did their best to win the contest. Many people started to gathered around to see the intense activities and Men and Women can be abled to join the activities.

Next is the Basag-palayok or Pots Braking. This is very popular game here in our town, and sometimes this can also done during Special occasions just like Birthdays, Anniversaries and many more. Inside of the pots contains lots of candies, coins and flour. The players must be blind folded and turning around 5 times before walking at the pots and hit using the wood paddle. If anyone breaks correctly wins.

Palo-Sebu is also a kind of traditional and old games played here in Manticao, mostly during town fiesta. This is a kind of game on which the players must climbed up the bamboo. But before they climbed, the bamboo was coated with grease or cooking oil to make it slippery an the prizes will not easily get. The players must have difficult situations by getting those prizes but they do their best. The first player who reach at the top and got those white flag wins.

I really have a lot of good and fun time this morning and amazed of the players for their cooperations and team work to win the contest.
