African Salad (Abacha); The most talked about delicacy. I had a taste of it at last๐๐๐
Good morning hivians how are we today?
So I told ya guys that I have been at Anambra state for some couple of weeks now because I am serving my country Nigeria.
So we passed out from camp and we all dispersed searching for our places of primary assignment (PPA). Yeah some people were posted to schools, hospital, offices etc depending on your course of study at school.
So we all had to do the necessary stuffs and registrations and clearance before we are permitted to travel back to our different homes for the Christmas holiday. So on one of those days I saw a woman selling African salad locally called Abacha.
There is a saying that goes thus that there is a first time for everything and that day happened to be my first time having a taste of the most talked about delicacy the African salad.
It was so delicious ans tasty the seller used many stuffs to garnish the salad. Stuffs like palm oil, fish, onions, cow skin aka Kanda or Mkpomo, red beans, slice fresh pepper, sliced utazi leaf(Utazi is a climbing shrub with a broad heart shaped leaves. The botanical name of this plant is Gangronema latifolium from the family Asclepiadaceae. It has a characteristic sharp, bitter and slightly sweet when it is eaten fresh.), sliced garden- egg etc.
It was really my first time eating this most talked about African delicacy and it was worth the hype.
But I am still wondering if other tribes would be able to Make it this delicious being that the Igbo people really major in this, they are well known for this particular delicacy.
All the same I am happy I tasted it.
I remain

Hello @glotokens! Quite an adventure you had tasting Abacha for the first time! ๐
Service year is always an interesting time to try out new things in other cultures. I served in the East too and ate my fair share of our African salad. Very tasty. Good to know you enjoyed it.
