FESTA DELLA MADONNA DELLA SALUTE A VENEZIA!

Questo fine settimana mi è venuta la Pazza idea di fare un salto a Venezia, si, sapevo già che il 21 novembre è la festa della Madonna della Salute quindi mi aspettavo un sacco di gente ma non così tanta.

This weekend I got the crazy idea of going to Venice, yes, I already knew that November 21st is the feast of the Madonna della Salute so I was expecting a lot of people but not so many.

Tante persone sicuramente non sanno di cosa tratta questa festa , le origini risalgono a circa il 1630 quando la città di Venezia fu colpita da una peste e per celebrare e ricordare il momento in cui la Repubblica di Venezia si liberò dell'epidemia venne eretta la chiesa della Madonna della Salute, come era successo in precedenza per la chiesa del Redentore.

Many people certainly do not know what this festival is about, the origins date back to around 1630 when the city of Venice was hit by a plague and to celebrate and remember the moment in which the Republic of Venice got rid of the epidemic the church was erected of the Madonna della Salute, as had previously happened for the church of the Redentore.

In onore di questa festa da 400 anni a questa parte la piazza di San Marco viene collegata alla Chiesa della Salute attraverso un ponte votivo, che praticamente viene costruito in maniera temporanea, non sono riuscita purtroppo a fare una foto sopra il ponte, perché non potevo fermarmi per il fatto che la gente mi spingeva, comunque dare la possibilità alle persone di raggiungere in maniera semplice senza l'uso del traghetto la chiesa stessa.

In honor of this celebration for 400 years now, the Piazza di San Marco is connected to the Church of Health through a votive bridge, which is practically built on a temporary basis, unfortunately I was unable to take a photo above the bridge, because I could not stop for the fact that people pushed me, however, to give people the possibility to easily reach the church itself without using the ferry.

Ho letto anche una bella storiella sui gatti di Venezia, ai tempi della Serenissima molti gatti venivano imbarcati sulle imbarcazioni proprio perché erano un'ottima difesa contro i ratti che portavano malattie dall'oriente, durante la pestilenza per limitare questi roditori nella città di Venezia i veneziani li importarono dalla Dalmazia una specie Siriana molto aggressiva nella caccia, e riempirono le calli e campielli di questi gatti ma nonostante gli sforzi la peste dilagò e dicimò praticamente la popolazione di Venezia.

I also read a nice story about the cats of Venice, at the time of the Serenissima many cats were embarked on boats precisely because they were an excellent defense against rats that carried diseases from the East, during the plague to limit these rodents in the city of Venice. Venetians imported them from Dalmatia, a very aggressive Syrian species in hunting, and filled the calli and campielli of these cats but despite their efforts the plague spread and practically killed the population of Venice.
