I am proud to be an Ekitis.
The world is big and sometimes I wonder what it would have looked like if we speak just one language, have one culture, and do just the same thing all over the world. It would be boring even though we will understand ourselves better, the languages, cultures, and other differences are what make us beautiful. It makes the world lively and those cultures make us unique, they represent us even where we haven't set our feet on.
Earth is our home but we all have somewhere we represent, a place we call our hometown. It is one big world really and in it, you will find Africa which is a continent rich in culture. In Africa, you will find Nigeria, a blessed country known as the giant of Africa.
I am a Nigerian and yet still hail from a state that harbors my hometown. We all have somewhere we hailed from and I am a proud indigene of Ekiti State popular referred to as the fountain of knowledge. Ekiti is one of the great states in the southwestern part of Nigeria and we are rich in culture.
The indigene of Ekiti aren't just intelligent but we are people of honor and integrity. We are disciplined even though people mistake that for us being temperamental, we don't condone rubbish and will always speak against any ill-treatment.
Ekiti is blessed with numerous cultures that stand out among the southwestern states. Every year, we celebrate the New yam festival, the Ewi festival, and Ekifest, all these are cultural days that have gained international recognition. Ekiti is where you will find the best-pounded yam and egusi soup, no other states prepare it better than we do or should I say we have a divine recipe in our hands.
Aside from the cultural values of the state, Ekiti is blessed with beautiful landscapes and has different tourist attraction centers. These are places people travel from far and near just to see the wonders of the earth.
Among the attraction of the state is the Ikogosi warm spring, the point where flowing hot and cold spring meets, isn't that fantastic?

I have only been to my hometown once and it's bad because I don't even have a memory of that. Although I couldn't remember anything, I am happy to still have someone to tell me the story.
I was an infant the last time I visited my hometown in Ado-Ekiti and my mom said, it was a beautiful day.
Grandma was ill and for the first time in a long while, she got out of her sick bed on my arrival. The disagreement between the family has kept everyone away from home. It is a polygamous family and I was told they had a huge quarrel that caused separation coupled with the fact that they are part of the Royal family.
My father forbids us from going home when we were kids and the death of my grandparents didn't even give me any reason to visit there. People from Yorubaland can understand what power struggle in the Royal families means and I am not ready for the drama.
I hope to visit there someday not because I want to be recognized or something, I just want to have a feel of the beauty of my hometown.
Thanks to social media, I have been able to meet my cousins and nephew. We have kept a good relationship and hope to meet someday, they haven't been to our hometown as well. Some of them are abroad and soon, I believe we will reach an agreement to meet in Ekiti and it will be a great opportunity for our parents to reconcile.
In Ekiti, our lands are blessed and that's why agriculture flourishes in the state. I can confidently say that the most peaceful place in Nigeria is Ekiti because the people of the state seek peace and take it as a priority.
Our men are loving and caring, you can ask @Princess-dara about that. Loyalty is another name we bear, both men and women of the state are trustworthy.
Hehehe 😂, I see someone taking pride of his state even without visiting often 😜
George, only once you have been to your hometown, fear God oo 😂😂
Wow...it's so nice to hear these amazing things about Ekiti. I haven't been there anyway but my mind just travelled to ur state now 😂👍

Better bring back your traveling mind. Even when George mind hasn’t travelled that far 😂. Travel your mind to Enugu 😂
Hahaha 😂😂😂. leave me and George oo. ...he must do the needful 😂

Hmmm, I know I am respectful but I don't know about the others and you just confirmed it that Ekitis are respectful.

Well, I must attest to the fact that people from your state are rich culture and discipline, my ex is from Ekiti, that girl can cook, what I value most about people from Ekiti is the way they value education, they take pride in being educated.
Well, our fathers always have their reasons from restricting their children from visiting their hometown, same as mine but I had the opportunity to visit my maternal hometown instead, it is always because of one family conflict or the other.
Thanks for sharing
You are right bro, Ekiti indigene take pride in been educated. I sometimes wish I could visit there but I honestly do not know the depth of why my dad restricted us but I believe I will visit there when the time is right.

I know Ekiti to be fond of pounded yam and Egusi soup... They are never tired of that.
I hope your family reconciles because that is something that will be great.
