Silly: wanting a shorter school uniform skirt

You know that feeling you get when you do something so silly that you wonder why you did it in the first place? I think being silly is cute but sometimes the embarrassment that comes with silliness makes us feel as though the ground should swallow us up. No matter how we try to be perfect in life, we will always have those silly moments, and reflecting on them does give us funny feelings.

Gosh, I have had so many silly moments in life. I will just give one in this post, this will moment happened when I was in secondary school.

I was kind of short in height when I was in SSS 1, almost everybody was taller than me then. Due to my short height, my school uniform skirt was longer than usual, gosh, almost reaching my toe. One month after the resumption, I noticed that almost all the girls in my class were wearing short skirts, they had taken their school uniforms to tailors to help them reduce the length. I felt they all look so cool and fancy, and I wanted to be like them. I asked my mom if I could reduce the length of my school uniform skirt but her answer was a capital NO, I let go of the issue.

A week later, my best friend who is also my seatmate, came to school in a short skirt. That broke me, I was determined that no matter what, I must shorten the horrible skirt.

That weekend, since I knew my mother would never take me to a tailor, I went to buy needles and thread. On Saturday night, I took my time to iron the skirt and arrange its pleats. I folded it to the exact length I wanted, and use the needle and thread to stitch it together. It came out beautiful, just below my knee, which I feel is the most appropriate length for me.

Now Monday morning came, and I was scared of how I was going to wear the skirt to school without my mom knowing. Since mom didn't give her permission and I was sure she would be furious. I told my sister to send my goodbye greetings to mom and ran out of the house when she was still dressing for work.

On the way to school, I started feeling uncomfortable. I was already used to my long skirt, my younger sister was just looking at me, saying nothing. At the entrance of the gate, I didn't know what came over me but I took a blade and broke the stitches. My friends saw my skirt and started laughing, it was so obvious what I tried to do. I felt so silly and stupid all through the day. I rushed home to get there before my mom but unfortunately, she was already home. And to make matters worst my sister told her everything. And then mom started laughing, she felt it was funny that I went to all that trouble only to go back to my long skirt. When my other siblings came home and heard of my silly act, the laughter increased. I later fell in love with my long skirt and grew into it. Whenever I see a girl in a short school skirt, I always remember how silly I was wanting a shorter school uniform skirt.
