Creative Sunday: reproducing the picture on my jotter
Hi everyone, it's another creative Sunday in hivelearners community. Today was kind of hectic for me but I decided I need to make a post to help me keep to the strategies for my hive goals, I have been laxing with my hive goals lately.
For today's creative Sunday, I decided to practice sketching. When I was in secondary school and we had to draw in biology. My biology teacher is a strict man. Every week he gives us the list of things to draw, and failure to do so means you have no test score. I found it hard to draw and beg my classmates to help me draw, but everybody was busy with their drawing, so I had to start learning, I mean those test score was very important. My elder sister studied biology at the university, and she was the one that gave me some points on how to draw, what to do and what not to do. In the beginning, it was hard for me but gradually I was able to improve my drawing skills.
Today I try to replicate one of the pictures on a jotter, to see how well I can still draw given the fact that it has been a while since I drew anything.
Materials
- pencil
- eraser
- drawing paper
- jotter
- blade
process
The first thing I started with was the cap, I find it easier to start the drawing from there.
Then I sketch out the shape of his face, I got this on one attempt but the ears though I had to redo that
Then I added his glasses, I did this part twice. The glasses do look good on him
The next was the shape of his eyes, I paid attention to all the details when I was drawing this part. I redraw like three or four times
Then the nose, this part was the hardest. I find it difficult to draw a perfect nose, I did my best though. I need more lessons on how to draw a nose
Then I proceed to the lips and the teeth, I think my work on the lips was ok.
Then I drew his cloth and the shape of the embroidery design on the front
Then I made the embroidery design itself.
And this is my final art sketch
I do enjoy myself replicating the picture on the jotter, I admit that it is not an exact replica but I am proud that I was able to reproduce it to some extent. I had no colours at home and it is impossible to get some in my neighbourhood. I would have loved to add colours to see how the drawing look with colours.
To every artist out there, kudos to you most especially the drawing of the nose part, I find it so difficult. I do hope to draw more in the future, Maybe I would be able to do a portrait for someone, I hope I get to that stage. Overall, drawing demand attention and brings out the creativity in you.
what do you think of my drawing?
Thank you for reading my post, all pictures belong to me and was taken with my phone

Hey @geelocks.. I can see you really tried your best but you forgot to include a selfie picture of you and your drawing.
Oh, I forgot.. I will remember to do that next time. Thanks @prayzz
I love to draw too, in fact I am studying art to further develop my skills. I'm still an apprentice, but I'm still practicing. Maybe next creative Sunday I'll get up the courage to do some sketches or a painting. Keep practicing yourself too, drawing relaxes us. Regards.
Wow, I love art. That's nice am sure by the time you finish your apprenticeship you will be a pro. You should show your art next Sunday, it will help you to keep practising.

It's not bad at all, I only felt you could have given it those deeper lines, added more contours and probably more shading to actually take away the transparency. I used to draw as a kid, they were fun moments I tell you. But this is good.
You are right, I need to work on that. I realise it didn't show much and sure next time, it will be more better. Wow drawing is interesting especially when you do it for fun. Thank you, I appreciate your comment
Wow you tried in that drawing I must say you just have to keep practicing.
Thank you for your kind words 😍

Sorry, I had to laugh a little. I can't draw to save my life so it's a little rich of me to laugh.
But, I'm sure you agree that this is hilarious. Maybe if you had paid more attention to your biology teacher... who knows 😂
Found this on #dreemport. Keep up the good work girl. 💕
