Last to first: A Mr Bonkers BMX race video
As some of y'all may know my five and a half year old nephew @mrbonkers does BMX racing and is going really well. He works hard and even though he's competing in the 6-7 year old bracket his efforts are paying off and I'm very proud of him.
I recently posted about an event he competed in at a BMX club other than his own and he had mixed results. A crash because his foot slipped off the peddle...but he got back on and came second, a couple of lower finishes and a win. The video in this post is the win.
The video quality isn't great but it's something at least I suppose and thanks to my sister in-law who took the video and my brother for allowing me to post it. I added some background music and some text...I'm not film maker so it's all pretty basic I guess - It is what it is.

Wow I really see a champion in the making.... Please keep motivating him he will go very far🥰🥰🥰Make room in your house for so many championships 😂 he'll fill your home with it
He's a good lad and is a bit of an all-rounder being great with sports, schoolwork and isn't too bad on the violin also. He's a champ.
Wow all of that😳 at the same time... I couldn't even do football 😂😂😂 man I just met a champ.. 👌🔥💯
Beautiful, to think he is competing in a more senior category makes it all the more impressive.
Yeah, he works hard and, as you can see if you look closely, he's on a much smaller bike (because he's smaller) which means he has to work harder to keep up.
Oh yeah! I had to look again to notice that.
It was No mean feat
I like this racing since the 8-bit game consoles :)
I'm not sure what you mean with your comment about gaming consoles.
He really came from behind to win...that's good riding! Congratulations to the winner!
Yeah, he did well. Because he's on a smaller bike (smaller wheel circumference) he gets jumped at the start off the ramp as he has to work harder to go the same distance as the others. His dad has has changed the sprocket which mitigates that somewhat but it makes the bike harder to push. The solution is build leg strength which is happening and the good thing is that it forces him to work harder which he does.
He focuses on fun first though, and he loves it, and that's what's important.
Thanks for your comment.
Congratulations to your nephew!
Really a lion fight, from the last to the first place 👏
The video of this race reminded me of a movie I watched a long time ago, I think you remember it too, considering that it is an Australian production and that my favorite Australian actress Nicole is starring in it 🙂
BMX bandits 🙂
Lol, yeah BMX Bandits was her first movie I think. Bloody terrible, but helped launch her career.
The lad did well right? He's a good little chap.
Only the one who finds himself in a duel in a stronger category knows how difficult it is to fight.
He is a winner among older and stronger children... That gives victory even more value!
I remember my childhood, when I tried football. I was late to be in the youngest category, so as a beginner they transferred me to a stronger category (two years older than me).
I didn't last long. Football is still a contact sport, which I couldn't stand, I was too short (I'm not too tall even now, but I was really tiny at the age of 8).
Being challenged with difficult things can be a great way of finding ones limits...and pushing past them.
He did super well!!! Despite having fallen and the most valuable thing is that he got up and moved on, as in life.
Beautiful your nephew, he has someone to go out to. A winner!
The video was great, with very good music!
Congratulations to him!
He's...well, he's bonkers, and I'd not have it be any other way.
It looks like you 🤣
From the beginning you can see the great effort your nephew made to win, that is called fighting for what you love, you have a great fighting spirit. God continue to watch over you and bless you greatly.
He puts in a lot of effort, thinks about it too, and that helps him achieve a good result from time to time. He's a good lad and I think he'll carry the lessons he's learning onward into his life.
Awwwww.... that is so cute to watch.
That is a pretty neat little track too.
He's a champ, I'm pretty proud of him.
The track is typical of most BMX tracks, but that one was not @mrbonkers home track so it's somewhat different. He got the hang of it pretty quickly.
Way for him to be persistent! I can tell how proud you are!
Yep, he loves it and works hard at the same time as having fun, and he's got a big fan in me. 😁
A really great race! @mrbonkers has proved his mettle and the World had better watch out for this Superstar!
He's bonkers, but is good at BMX.. maybe because he's bonkers! Lol.
When a child says I'm going for everything, watch out! That child will have clear goals too quickly and the spirit of competitiveness will mark his life.
I can see a very confident adult, that's really very good, I'm sure he will take advantage of every opportunity he has...
But the best thing is that he already knows that this is part of life: fun and personal growth.
His parents must be very proud of him, and so are you!!!
Show off the kid, he deserves it!
👏👏👏
He is an good little kid with a good nature. He likes to have fun and joke around and has a really good sense of humour but also applies himself to the tasks set before him whether it's school, violin, sports, being artistic and creative, his friends and all. He is a good all-rounder and I'm happy to have him as my nephew.
Hi, Galen, It is clear that there is a good management of the timing of the race. In addition to strength and technique, intelligence is needed. And this boy demonstrates that he has these three qualities. Congratulations to the champion.
He picks his line well which is how he managed to make it into second place around that big turn about a third of the way through, rode a tight line and came around inside of those who took the wider/high line. He thinks things through which is good. A good lad is @mrbonkers.
Good morning (here) Galen; good afternoon there. That's what I meant when you say he thinks things through. Without understanding much, there seems to be strategy, even when he starts in last place. It gives the feeling that he dominates the race from the first second to the last.
Have a great Sunday, greetings
Ha, nice! Before you know it he's gonna be flirtin' with disaster.
Haha, yeah he might if anything like me. I jumped my bike off everything, often to my detriment. I'm sure he'll do the same.
What a great competition track. He's a crazy kid! (¡Es un loco ese chama!)
😂 I loved the skidding at the end!
He's loco for sure, a little like me and my brothers were at his age. Runs in the family. He's a good kid though, people instantly him. He's a good nephew.
Best couple minutes of my day right here.
😉
He did well huh? All that energy, I have no fucken clue where he gets it from...although I remember being the same at his age. (I lost it though, not sure how.) 😁
Oh I still got it bro...
1.3 seconds worth. 😂😆🤣
#microburst
Haha, yeah it's about all I have too.
He did really well. Coming from last place to first is always awesome, and seeing him really gun it near the end makes it seem he conserved his energy early on which was a smart strategy.
