Riptide Operation - Week 15: Barrier Reef [Let's Play Games #38]
We are just one step away from saying Goodbye! to Operation Riptide CS:GO released in September 21, 2021, and considering that adding a new operation became a pretty rare thing, we most likely will have to wait at least a few more months until we repeat the experience.
But until then, we have two more sets of missions to take care of, namely these from the current post and those that will be featured in next week post which are also going to be the last ones.
But until we can officially consider this a beautiful dream that has ended, let's take a closer look to what the Week 15: Barrier Reef brought, being able to be rewarded with a total of 8x stars if you complete all the missions available:
- Wingman - Ravine: being needed to win an entire match OR collect 21 winning rounds from more matches played [★★★]
- Guardian - Extraction - Current Events: where you have to get 20 kills with heavy weapons [★★]
- Arms Race - Endangered Species: where you are required to kill the leader 5 times in a single match OR score 30 kills collected from more matches played [★]
- Casual - Hostage Group - Shark Culling Policy: you have to deal 1,000 damage in a single match OR 2,500 damage collected from more matches played [★★]
Since there was no deathmatch mission on the list to begin with, I decided to start warming up by playing the Arms Race mode which is a pretty intense game mode too because as soon as you are dying you get respawned and you are able to fight again to either take your revenge or... well... die again. 😀
However, if you are used to playing this mode and meet no leader in the game other than you, might be an easy task as there is the option to either kill the leader 5 times or get a total of 30 kills. So I'm sure there won't be any challenge for you to kill everyone and occupy the leader position every time someone takes your place.
The next mission I wanted to play was the Casual match where you have to either score 1,000 damage in a single match or a total of 2,500 from more matches played, but if we do a short mathematical equation we will came to the conclusion that if we get 10 kills in a single match (because one enemy has 100 health life) we will have the task completed in no time.
In plus, you can always consider dropping grenades or molly where you see enemies as if more people will get damaged, you will reach that magical number of 1,000 damage caused faster.
Out of all the 16 weeks the Operation Riptde came with, there was always this Guardain mode that was never missing, which is really cool.
Not because it's an easy task because it really depends on the weapons you have to fight with or the maps where the whole action is going on, but because I like seeing something consistent and it's also a great way to learn shooting with the guns that you are not purchasing too often during your gameplays.
For now, we had to use the heavy weapons which are some beast guns with 100 bullets each, so at least you can give up on the thought that you will have to reload the weapon too often, lol. But watch out for the enemies though, because this type of guns has a very weird recoil and killing them might be a little bit challenging as well.
And last but not least, there was also a competitive match but in form of a 2 vs 2 which is called Wingman. Just perfect for I and my boyfriend to play and annoy some enemies while they had a visible lower rank than ours, but hey, it was still a lot of fun!
The map was the one more challenging for us since we never played it other than if the missions required us to, so it took us a while to learn it and start playing better, but at least we finished it and if we ever get on it again, we will know what we have to do.
Actually, I think we should explore this game mode a lot more since it's perfect for 2 vs 2 and considering that in most of the times we don't have people to play with during the usually competitive matches and we are forced to play with toxic randoms, playing wingman would be a lot easier to rank up and control the whole game. 😀

Gabriella,
I have supported your work for a long time. Actually with Josh, I am the person, who first voted your post to trending. So here is some feedback to you, please do not take it any negative way. While your travel posts remains good and with lot of effort, some of your gaming posts does not have any engagement.
Please don't worry if people does some reward adjustment. Please take it sportingly. Usually we don't mention this to people, but since I know you personally I am letting you know in advance.
Have a good day.
Hello azircon!
I know that, and I expected to see this, but I'm wondering if it was really needed such a big "adjustment" since even though I didn't spent as many hours I spend writing a travel blog, I've still spent some time writing this as well.
The thing that it doesn't have engagement is not because of me, since I'd definitely love to get more comments and people interested in this kind of posts but it's just not happening.
As I said, I expected to see these downvotes but not with such a big value since there are a lot of people who are posting in the Photography community for example and there is visibly less work than I put into the gaming ones.
I think you can agree that if we compare the writing hours from the two, there's a lot more effort put into the gaming posts than there where some people just drop a few pictures daily and get over 200 worth of hive of every post which is not fair.
So I'm asking this again, without taking it personally or trying to start a fight, but was I really worth this big downvote which is almost double from what is left?..
Yes, I personally DO NOT value this post at $70.
This is my personal opinion.
Ask yourself please, if you write this post on your local newspaper, would you get paid $70? No. So enjoy the rewards we are giving you and have fun at the blockchain. Also let others have a bit of fun too :)
This is a long conversation about how you get paid if you write this post on a newspaper or a different website as it depends on a lot of factors but it's also wrong to say that I get paid with 70$ because we both know how things work and that I only get half of it which is 35$.
Anyway, I do understand your opinion here but I also feel like the guys who post in the Photography community daily and get twice or even three times more rewards than my post is not fair.
I mean I have a lot of pictures from my travels, it would be a lot easier to just drop a bunch of these in separate posts but what I'm trying is to share other passions of mine, one of them being the gaming area where even if you think it's not worth that money or that it's a post written in rush, I still spend 1-2 hours writing it and the same amount of hours doing those tasks to present them in the post. So it's a lot more work than some of the guys from the trending page put in their posts and which are not getting those massive downvotes that are really discouraging.
Not to mention that some of my gaming posts are even longer than the travel posts, so I do expect to see more engagement on these and my work being appreciated. Hope you understand my point of view as well.
Gabiela,
It has nothing to do with 'length' or quality or what others posted in other communities. Also it has nothing to do with fairness. I am much older than you and have a varied and longer experience in life, and I can confirm that life is not fair. Please in future do not compare yourself with anything or anyone. That is a dangerous slope downhill.
Again, I normally won't spend this much time on something like this but I am doing so because I know you. But please do not impress upon your entitlement. This will be my last comment on the subject to help you.
Believe me, I know about 50:50 reward split and you get $35. I am doing this for a long time :). It is easy to comment on reward that is visible on screen so I commented.
Nothing that you post on hive gives you the 'right' for any reward whatsoever. This is a fact. Sooner you warm up to it better it is. Please do not feel entitled to any rewards, that will help with your journey.
Alright, thanks for at least understanding my point of view and taking time to reply to this. I will also like to end up the subject here. Thank you again for replying and for the encouraging words.
