Tent Church - A Unique Building with a Great Future
Religious buildings are diverse and have many architectural forms. Every country has unique places of worship. The main element of the temples is stone or brick, and wooden churches are less common. But one day, in 2018, the most unusual church caught my eye. It was not a church building in the usual sense, but something unusual. I got curious and learned more about this unique church. My guesses were confirmed. The tent church is unique now and promises to be unique in the near future.
Officially, this tent is named in honor of the holy nobles Prince Peter and Princess Fevronia. What could be unique about a tent called a church? No, not history, since the church appeared quite recently in 2014-2015. On the contrary, the history of this place is just beginning. Previously, there was a forest here, and now there are residential high-rise buildings. In the foreseeable future, this will be one of the most unusual churches of our time. In the public domain, I found a project for the future Temple of Peter and Fevronia, and it impressed me with its forms. Just take a look at the 3d model.
Different from what we see now, isn't it? But if you look closely, then the 3D model and the tent have a similarity in shape. Only in the tent the tower is small. But at that time I had the opportunity to see the tower of the future temple. She is white, but looks unusual. I also drew attention to her ornament, if you can call it that. By the way, we noticed that the dome is different from the one in the picture above, apparently there are changes.
It was autumn, but life was in full swing on the territory of the temporary temple. I decided to go further and see everything with my own eyes. The area was small, but quite cozy. There is a coniferous forest and a playground nearby, and the paths are covered with artificial grass. Being in such a place is good for mental and physical health.
I wondered what was hidden inside this unusual tent-church. I went inside and took some photos. Although in some cases it is problematic to take photographs inside the church for ethical reasons and prohibitions. The interior is capable of accommodating many parishioners. Being inside it is difficult to imagine that you are in a tent. In addition to all church attributes, numerous carpets are striking. Their presence creates an unusual atmosphere in the room.
Outside, I discovered a few more interesting locations. There are bridges made of colorful bricks and a stage over which is written a beautiful phrase, "God is love and whoever abides in love abides in God." Surprisingly atmospheric place, despite the simplicity of construction. Apparently, people of all ages come there to enjoy nature and spend time in peace. I would call this place a holy park. Nearby is a slide for children.
On the left in the center you can see a slide for skiing children
A visit to the unusual church-tent of Peter and Fevronia left a cultural mark in my mind. It is interesting to see unusual architecture where you did not expect to see it. I rarely visit those parts, but with pleasure I would look at the temple, which will soon be built. I am convinced that it will be a unique architectural heritage of architecture.
What are the most unusual temples you have seen?
All photos taken by me during my trip. Thank you for your attention!
I love the interior, I thought I am only going to see plain white in the ceiling but I was wrong. Greetings from the Philippines!
