Today I will be taking you again - virtually - to the university where I study. We will take a tour of some of the sculptures and works of art that are scattered throughout the campus for the enjoyment of visitors and students alike. These works not only adorn the place with their peculiar beauty, but also provide a common space for the community's cultural and intellectual growth.

Hoy de nuevo los llevaré- virtualmente- a la universidad en la que estudio. Haremos un recorrido por alguna de las esculturas y obras de artes que se encuentran ubicadas en varios puntos del campo para el disfrute de visitantes y estudiantes. Este conjunto de obras no solo adornan con su peculiar belleza el lugar; sino que también, proveen un espacio común para la convivencia y para el crecimiento cultural e intelectual de la comunidad.

Eye To Eye

The first sculpture you will be introduced to is called " Eye to Eye". In this work made of aluminum you can see two heads facing each other. This artwork is located at the department of psychology and it represents abstraction and deep thinking.

Cara a Cara

La primera escultura que conoceremos se llama " Cara a Cara". En esta obra realizada en aluminio se pueden ver dos cabezas situadas frente a frente. Esta obra se encuentra en el departamento de psicología y representa la abstracción y el pensamiento profundo .

Star Sphere

The following sculpture is called the Star Sphere. This work made of stainless steel is located at the school of journalism and social communication. It is a tribute to freedom of expression and free press; the sphere is formed by several circular structures interspersed with each other and in the center of which several stars are formed that can be seen from various angles. Also on the edges of these stars the inscription of the first amendment of the U.S. Constitution can be read. It reads as follows:

The First Amendment provides that Congress make no law respecting an establishment of religion or prohibiting its free exercise. It protects freedom of speech, the press, assembly, and the right to petition the Government for a redress of grievances.

Esfera Estelar

La siguiente escultura se llama Esfera Estelar. Esta obra realizada en acero inoxidable se encuentra en la escuela de periodismo y comunicación social. Es un homenaje a la libertad de expresión y a la prensa libre; la esfera está formada por varias estructuras circulares intercaladas entre sí y en cuyo centro se forman varias estrellas que pueden verse desde varios ángulos. Además, en los bordes de estas estrellas se puede leer la inscripción de la primera enmienda de la Constitución de Estados Unidos. La misma dice lo siguiente:

La Primera Enmienda dispone que el Congreso no haga ninguna ley que respete el establecimiento de una religión o que prohíba su libre ejercicio. Protege la libertad de expresión, de prensa, de reunión y el derecho a solicitar al Gobierno la reparación de agravios.

The Black Squirrel

The next and last piece we will look at in this post is a small sculpture of a black squirrel. Black squirrels are the mascot of the university and can often be seen roaming the grounds and climbing trees on campus. Here is a sculpture that pays tribute to them.

La Ardilla Negra

La siguiente y última pieza que veremos en este post es una pequeña escultura de una ardilla negra. Las ardillas negras son la mascota de la universidad y a menudo se las puede ver deambulando por los terrenos y subiendo a los árboles del campus. Aquí tenemos una escultura que les rinde homenaje.
