Real RL distractions
To say that I'm distracted is an understatement and five minutes looking at the pops of colour in the late afternoon yesterday was probably the most pleasant. Distraction.
Meet Bob. Bob is our friend S's cat. S was rushed to hospital in the wee hours of Saturday morning with uncontrolled diabetes and a range of other potentially serious and associated conditions. Bob's our job while he's away and I do morning shifts and The Husband evenings. He's pining. The two are usually each others' constant companions: both are retiring recluses.
While I was there, I fiddled with the camera. Because Bob won't go out and has "welded" himself to S's desk.
Constantly distracted, I tell you.
By that, and news that a uni friend is literally on his deathbed. It's unbelievable his journey with the big C - until pretty recently he was not acknowledging what we all knew and were not saying - just from reading between the lines. He is, in his own words, preparing for Anglican heaven. His wife's updates in our group are getting sadder and sadder.
He will never stumble up to my stall at the market again. We all hoped he might. Just one last time.
Then, to the banal:
The reason for the first "distracted" photograph was my heading off to our local tourism authority's annual general meeting.
Deputy Mayor, Councilor Steenkamp, guest speaker addressing the meeting.
If what he's suggesting in terms of recognising and supporting the value of tourism comes to fruition, my optimism will not be misplaced. In the meantime, I have pledged my support as - a backroom girl - to the new committee to helping sort out some longstanding and serious issues. Unless they're resolved, there could be very serious consequences. I am delighted - and relieved - that some of the young bloods recognise this.
Until next time, be well

If this post might seem familiar, it's because I'm doing two things:
- re-vamping old recipes. As I do this, I am adding them in a file format that you can download and print. If you download recipes, buy me a coffee. Or better yet, a glass of wine....?
- and "re-capturing" nearly two years' worth of posts.
- From Wordpress, I use the Exxp Wordpress plugin. If this rocks your socks, click here or on on the image below to sign up.
- Join Hive using this link and then join us in the Silver Bloggers' community.

- lastly, graphics are created using partly my own photographs, images available freely available on @hive.blog and Canva.
I am sorry for what your friend is going through, the good thing is that as he prepares for heaven he has been able to say goodbye. her cat must miss him, good thing you are taking care of him.
Keep up the good distractions, best wishes. @fionasfavourites
Thank you so much!
