Bacon and rabbits on meatfree Monday
Now that I have your attenion: I am referring to the idioms so integral to English, and which just happen as I write. Perhaps, at some point, and as a plant-based lifestyle is adopted by more people, the language language will adapt. As languages which are dynamic constructs, do. More of that. Perhaps. Another time.
Now:
I know it's the third week in a row that wraps have saved my bacon (ha!) on a meatfree Monday, so sorry if this is boring. Especially if you remember that last week was been chilli. Too.
Well, the point, no, more than one, are:
It was a particularly long day, so I was grateful to have supper mostly done. Secondly, I have been rabbitting (oh dear...) on about storing things in jars and the difference in shelf life. This is another example.
These jars of chilli are 10 days old. Not only not a sign of any deterioration, but the parsley on top (literally) was still crisp.
I am doing more and more in jars. They don't work for the freezer - for obvious reasons - and where proper, genuine Tupperware, if one can afford it, remains king. If I could avoid all single use plastic, I would. I remember hardly any from my childhood (a looong time ago) including in packaging, and which tells me it's possible.
Lesson over. And...I am out. For the moment.
Until next time, be well

Ah, you click baited me into thinking I might find a new rabbit recipe hiding inside! As it is my favorite game meat I was truly heartbroken, but the good news is rabbit season is on us here in Arizona and I am sure to be frying some up after this coming weekend's hunt! Glad to hear you saved your bacon though! 🤣🤣🤣
You made my day! 🤣
I confess to never having eaten rabbit although I do remember my mother preparing it. I was a children at the time so we were excluded from that meal. A friend has put her cat up for sale since she (the cat) caught a baby bunny and brought it to her as a present.... Ahem... So, when you visit, you'll have to remedy that deficit in my culinary experiences....
As for the bacon, this house is usually pretty well stocked. And with apple smoked bacon that's cure locally. Often bartered for chicken liver pate or marmalade...
I will only condone hunting for food. So, with that grinchy comment done: happy hunting!
🤣 Well as for rabbit if you imagine the best fried chicken you ever had it's about 10x better than that. The meat is white and has about the same texture too! I rarely hunt but wintertime, when rabbits are in season, is the exception!
