People Are Still Afraid Of Crypto
There are a couple of years now that i am around crypto, mostly holding, even though i knew about crypto since BTC was a couple of dollars. I have regretted it so many times that i can't even count, that i haven't bought any. Most likely though, even if i bought BTC even at 1$, then when the price had doubled i would have already sold it. No holding mentality back then, especially if you don't know anything about blockchain.
Having said that, i get caught up in many conversations about crypto these days and to tell you the truth while i don't wanna bother explaining some basic stuff, i get irritated quite easily and start talking. Most of the time though i try to check my phone or something because i know that if i pay close attention to the given conversation it will get on my nerves.
Something that most people do, not only when we talk about cryptos but in general, is that they wanna act smart and ofc they are too bored to actually do any research. Thus, i keep on hearing that cryptos are illegal and scams, without any actual example. The "best" example that i have ever received is that an "X" scammer, scammed some people and made millions in crypto, like that doesn't happen every day with fiat.
Most people are afraid of the "new" thing and that applies basically to everything. It's ok to be reluctant at first with something, but before you even try it out do some research, learn something and then see whether or not it fits your preference. Ahh i remembered a funny story a couple of days ago with a colleague of mine about crypto.
So that colleague of mine had an interview for a finance role and the other person said that he is doing some trading as a hobby both with stocks and cryptos. She asked him more about cryptos from what she said, and the guy had no idea, he only knew about BTC. Now, my colleague when we were talking about it, she tried to act smart and said "He tried to tell me about crypto but he didn't know that knew a lot about it, he didn't mention ETH at all."
Then she continued talking saying that she doesn't invest in crypto because she knows that will lose her money and that she is too smart for that. This is when i got irritated and asked her why she believed that she would lose her money. She dodged the question and said that either way she doesn't have the money to buy BTC or eth and specifically said "i don't have 2k to spend on ETH".
From what you can imagine, she literally had no idea about crypto at all, she had heard somewhere about btc and eth, she may have checked or read the price as well and there you have it, in her mind she knew everything about crypto. As i was frustrated i told her that, she could literally buy a fraction of any given crypto with even 1$ and she looked at me like i was talking Chinese. Ofc i ended the conversation there.
Don't get me wrong i still consider her as a smart person but as mostly everyone, they hear or read something about something else but never actually do their own research. Even if you don't do any research, have "the guts" to say "I DON'T KNOW".
Besides what people should do as individuals it's really important for anyone around any crypto project to try and educate the masses through any said means even web 2. It's really important and crucial for people to learn and understand everything from where and how they will buy the said crypto, what this project actually does and how will they earn money out of it. We need to consider that the average person out there is like a small child who needs the proper guidance.
At the same time the processes for everything even creating an account should be as simple as possible. People like ease and no complicated things and many crypto projects are honestly quite complicated for the average person out there and we all know it by now. People are afraid when something is new and when something is complex to understand it and this will only lead to fear or boredom, or both. We need to change that.
