Watching great players

If you want to make the most out of your Splinterlands collection, you have to play it yourself and win! That's what's going to make the most bang for your buck. But if you want to win, you have to study the game, otherwise you'll do nothing but waste your time, all while not earning as much as you could.

That's what we're doing in Bronze TOP BATTLES Studies: we analyze three battles from the highest MMR players, learn their strategies and try improving upon them. That's how we're going to become great players that make more money. We begin after our giveaways!

I don't think there's a team that'll carry you with greater ease than this. Sea Monster, Venari Wavesmith, Ice Pixie, furious chicken and Creeping Ooze are all staples as it is, but the added magic power from Alric Stormbringer let Venari Wavesmith and Ice Pixie stay on the offensive all battle long.

Even though it has no armor, Sea Monster tanks and bites the opposing frontliner. The reason it's able to heal up before dying is because of Creeping Ooze, since Sea Monster can act sooner because enemies have been slowed. The added armor from Venari Wavesmith guarantees he'll hold up for long enough.

Meanwhile, Rennyn's team wasn't focused enough. Sure, it deals damage, but it attacks over here and over there. It lacks a specific strategy. The fact that Alric Stormbringer never brought sneak attackers sealed away Rennyn's chances of winning.

One side had Kron rented, while the other had Llama. Neither player tried to build a team that could beat Llama-Krong, even though that's very much possible. Instead, we end up watching Llama-Xenith Month, which is surprising acceptable, and a Kron.

This goes to show how monsters are more important than summoners themselves. Xenith Monk is a very interesting monster paired with Llama, but it doesn't deal enough damage to kill monsters that heal themselves. What's worse, since he was used at the frontline, he never even got the Last Stand buff - Furious Chicken ended up taking the role. That didn't go well.

In 99 mana battles, there's no way you'll beat dragons nowadays. Specially if you're up against Byzantine Kitty, which is certainly the best Dragon Splinter summoner available. But even then, it's not like Rennyn is so bad. It's just that you can't realistically use Grund as a frontliner.

Grund died so quickly, it wasn't even funny. Poor reptile couldn't attack even a single time. That's how bad he is as a frontliner, despite having high health. I like Kron as the second monster here, because his function in this match is to act as an off tank, much like Carnage Titan.

In the end, we can sum up the match as "the battle where one player used a tank". Nothing got past Robo-Dragon Knight. Not to mention, Rennyn monsters never had a specific focus, so they never killed neither Robo-Dragon Knight or Cornealus.
