Watching great players

If you want to make the most out of your Splinterlands collection, you have to play it yourself and win! That's what's going to make the most bang for your buck. But if you want to win, you have to study the game, otherwise you'll do nothing but waste your time, all while not earning as much as you could.

That's what we're doing in Bronze TOP BATTLES Studies: we analyze three battles from the highest MMR players, learn their strategies and try improving upon them. That's how we're going to become great players that make more money. We begin after our giveaways!

A big, easy win for Yodin Zaku. I particularly like seeing Dwarven Mage near the front line, because despite him being disposable, he's likely going to deal blast damage to any 0 and 1 mana monsters meant to stall, ignoring armor, killing them and thus letting all other allied monsters attack where it's meaningful.

Rennyn, as usual, has a lot of trouble killing the opposing frontliner. Of course, Rennyn isn't even supposed to do that. Only by sniping out the enemy team would Rennyn stand a chance. They've decided to focus the enemy tank, which in this case was Lord Arianthus, so they never got to the opponent's backline.

At first, water splinter's side seems more consistent, since it has so much more damage including Pirate Archer's blast attack and an additional archer. However, as soon as the battle starts, every water monster gets -1 health while every earth monster gets +1 health.

The most important part is, that health difference makes the most impact at the beginning of a battle. That's when stallers are still alive, trying to defend the rest of their team using their own bodies. Earth Splinter used three stallers, so their strategy was maximized using almost no mana.

On the other hand, Kelp Initiate was really unlucky. It never dodged any attacks, even when taking fire from Swamp Thing, despite a huge difference in speed. This battle really could have turned out completely different with a couple of misses. Then again, Earth team seems particularly strong because it didn't rely on luck.

At the highest levels, Mylor Crowling is barely ever used, so Silvershield Knight is a force to be reckoned with. Physical damage is strongly prevented by the Life Splinter team thanks to legendary summoner Peakrider.

Using this strategy usually means their life Splinter team is susceptible to magic attacks, but because Crystal Werewolf can be used aggressively thanks to the Super Sneak rule being present in this match, every possible deficiency has been covered.

Fire Splinter is left wondering what they could have done better.
