Crime on Screen: Balancing Entertainment and Social Responsibility

As a lover of movies and TV shows, I have often thought about the impact movies have on the general growth of children and adults. One thing about our mind is that the more we see things, the more they remain adamant in our mind, and this can cause some certain habits to develop consciously or unconsciously. Having said this, the entertainment industry has a way to romanticize crime in movies, which makes it look like people doing that sort of crime are gurus, and you begin to see people aiming to become something they see on TV.

Let's take the series "Money Heist," for example. The directors of the movie actually created a masterpiece, but it was a series that revolves around crime, glorifying criminal activities just like Robin Hood. We can say they are doing it for the good cause because of the situation we find ourselves in in the world, but crime is crime.

The question of whether these portrayals contribute to an increase in crime rates is a complex one. The truth is that media can influence behavior to some extent; it's essential to recognize that people's actions are shaped by a multitude of factors, including upbringing, environment, and personal values. Not everyone who watches a crime movie will be inspired to commit illegal acts. We need to know that fact. Some people who watch crime movies might be inspired to want to become cops so what they see on TV doesn't repeat itself in the real world.

That being said, there are some people who take solace in making crime movies because they are trying to pass on the message of things that are going on in our world. For one, I am a person who loves crime movies, but that hasn't affected my behavior; it has only opened my mind to different kinds of crimes and criminals that are out there and ways to avoid or get away from them. I have seen movies where other people are blackmailed and kidnapped, and it works out fine for them. For a young adult, it might look like a fast-money-making scheme, which they might want to try out. The way we receive information matters a lot, which is why parents need to be careful and mindful of what their kids or young adults watch.
Some movie makers might have the good intention of making that movie, but the way the message is received is all that matters, and that is where the parent or movie narrator like I do for my little cousins comes in.

The question is, "Will life be better if all movies were cleaner and had no elements of crime?"

Even without crime-glorified movies, there are criminals everywhere, and crime goes on every day. I don't think life will be better even if movies are cleaner and have no element of crime in them. The truth is that all these crime scenes in movies are not just newly invented crimes that the movie director is trying to showcase to the world so they can start participating. Crime has been ongoing, and movies have their way of showing the kind of crimes that are going on in the world.

A movie that shows how a man kidnaps young girls for traffic. The movie will focus on how the man gets the girls, the incentive he uses, the tricks and gems. With this, young ladies who have watched movies like this will be hard to get by real-life kidnappers because they already have that experience through watching movies.

In conclusion, I believe it is the responsibility of not just the movie makers but everyone watching the movie to have a scene of understanding the kind of message the movie is trying to pass. By promoting media literacy and ethical storytelling, we can shape a society where crime is not glamorized but understood in all its complexity.
