NO IDEAL AGE FOR MATURITY. MY PERSPECTIVE!!!

Happy new month to everyone reading my post. Last month was quite a moment of fixed feelings as I shared and some of you were aware. Two of my parents were buried at an interval of just a day and my aunt also lost her husband, my cousin got married and I travelled to rural areas. In all of these things God preserved and kept me. It will be very important for me to begin this edition with a Thanksgiving to God Almighty for all He has done. Congratulations to everyone that made it to the new month of May.

When I saw the theme for this edition, I was happy because it's timely and covers what is happening currently in my country. Age doesn't sometimes show on the face because there are people that are older than their age. I have come across different kind of people that almost concluded because of their size their kind of age but I discovered that I was far from the reality. There are varied factors responsible for growth in my country. Sometimes the kind of food one eats determined the growth rate of such individuals however that doesn't make the person matured.

Maturity is not always the product of age number but in the ability to handle and manage things. Sometimes the country has its own rules over age of maturity however the reality tends to contradict that many times. An ideal age that is counted as adulthood or maturity in my country according to law is at age 18years. This is the general age accepted for entry into any organisation and even in times punishment. Once an individual is up to 18 years, you're termed as mature. Well...the law is different from reality. There are many that superceded such age limit but yet can't reason and manage things according to their age.

There is a saying in African adage that a fool at 40 is a fool forever hmmmm well everyone is entitled to his or her opinion. I have seen people before 40years that behave as if they're 50++ and I have seen some that are more than 40 yet aren't matured at heart to handle certain things. Personally, I wouldn't want to succumb with the law says because the generation changes hence things as well changes. The rate of growth and maturity of people now is amazing. I have seen people at 15-16 years managing their parent's property. If you see them, you hardly believe their ideal age. To comb this kind of challenges, one must just be open and stop making costly assumption about people's age and ability.

There is one of my guys that is less than thirty years hmmm grey hair almost covered his entire head. In Africa, it's believed that those with grey are the adult. This was the superstition that existed many years ago but it doesn't longer hold water with the current reality. I don't have a specific age to define maturity. My take is this, at any point that an individual noticed sense of responsibility and assume it. It doesn't matter the age.

No ideal age defines maturity as for me. Maturity is based on responsibility and balance which includes emotional, financial, spiritual, etc. You can be less than 18 yet matured and you can more than 30years yet not matured.

Thanks for reading through my input.

This is my entry for hive learners prompt for week 112 edition 2.

People mature depending on the values they receive and even because of the type of experience they are living, many times we cannot say that an adult is mature since they carry out actions typical of adolescents and children and do not take responsibility for their actions, there are others. case in which we see very responsible children carrying out adult tasks and who are also the ones who bring food to their home, that child matures before his time but has not enjoyed what it is like to be young.

No ideal age defines adulthood, best is of the mind because lots of factors can make someone appear more or less than his age until he acts.

What you say is important, because it is not only age that makes us create ideas about what maturity is, but also appearance. Maybe we believe that between two 25 year olds, the one who is better dressed or has a better skin tone looks more mature, but that is not always the case. Greetings @fasacity

Yes. Some people have the ability to handle the issues of life while some can not. So, you see that we can measure adulthood by age.

This reflects how beautifully you explained the fact that complexity of maturity is beyond some mere age. It really challenges those society norms and stereotypes, and emphasizes that maturity is all about responsibility and balancing everything rather than a fixed number set by society. Do you think someday this norms would change by the way?
