Winter activities
I used to spend my time closed almost every winter and didn’t go out into nature. Because of this, I had health problems, including a spinal hernia that was starting. On the other hand, I had a cold many times, my nose was running all winter and my throat was dry from the dry air inside.
Then I got tired of it! On the advice of my friends, at first only for a short time, I went out in the cold. Then I realized nature is always beautiful, even in winter, during the snow-free period, away from the noise of the city.
In the old days, when I was a child, there was always a lot of snow, we spent the weekends building snowmen and sledding, it almost always darkened on us, and our boots were soaked. The tiled stove in my room provided good heat, so I pressed my frozen feet to warm up on the tiles. Unfortunately, this time can no longer be brought back, but if I want to see snow, I only have to take 20 kilometers by bus, even in several directions. Hiking has become a big fashion for some years, not only for the elderly but also for the young.
This is a very good trend because people have realized they can not only spend their weekend at home watching TV or outside in shopping malls. Of all the types of exercise, walking is perhaps the healthiest alternative.
Clothing
In winter, however, you need to pay attention to the basics: Proper layered clothing and waterproof hiking boots are needed, and no hats or gloves can stay at home. When you're hot, you just take off a layer. I often take off my coat when I move intensely and then put it on again when I rest. A hiking pole and snowshoes that can be attached to the shoe sole can also be useful.
Food and drink
Always bring the right amount of drink with you, preferably warm. Cold water may not be a good choice. If you spend more than 4 hours outside, make a sandwich at home or put oily seeds and dried fruit in your backpack. Chocolate can also come in handy.
Navigation
If you are not yet an experienced hiker, plan a route to a place you know. In winter, the landscape shows a completely different face. Before you leave, be sure to check out the weather report, and if they signal fog, don’t start alone! Otherwise, you’re acting like me when I lost the tourist sign a few days ago and barely found it.
Don't trust your phone's GPS! You’d rather buy a standalone GPS device, but it’s only worth buying if you’re very serious about hiking and traveling longer distances.
Hunting
In winter, hunters hunt in many places, at which time many deer and roe deer run along while guns popping. If you are nearby, you could even be in danger of life! Some hiking sites indicate where there will be hunting, don't go there, avoid it!
Photos are original, taken with Lumix FZ82 and Samsung mobile phone.
Sure, I could go on and on with the list of things to look out for, but then the post would never end.
But one last thing before I finish: Don’t leave your camera at home! If you take it with you, make sure the battery is charged and the card is included. How uncomfortable when you try to photograph a moment that will never come back and the camera doesn’t work!
Have a wonderful day!
I agree with you @fairyberry. Going out in winter weather will help the body increase its adaptability. I usually drink a cup of ginger tea every winter morning. You can try it. It will help the body warm up from the inside and limit colds effectively.
Yess, ginger tea is the best! With lime and honey, not sugar!
