Full moon over October bridge

avatar

I have been looking at a certain angle for a long time – the October Bridge in Vologda with the moon above it. But I either don't make it, or the moon is somewhere else. And this time it didn't work out exactly, but it was very close to what I wanted.

I should have caught the moon the day before, but I didn't have the opportunity.

And the next day, as shown in these shots, the celestial body has already shifted strongly to the left of the bridge.

The best moonrises are obtained immediately after sunset, when it is not dark yet.

If you shoot the moon creeping over the horizon in extreme darkness, then it will already be overexposured.

In other words, in the dark, the moon will be the same in brightness, but a strong contrast in light will not allow you to create a scene with a uniform dynamic range.

To put it even simpler, when the light the moon is pale, when the dark the moon is bright.

And one more nuance: above the horizon, the moon will in any case be less bright due to the haze, that is, the density of the atmosphere.

Well, never mind, one day I'll catch her right over the bridge!

This is a kind of challenge, a warm–up for the mind - to study the points of sunrise and sunset at different times of the year and combine them with different objects of the urban environment.

Sometimes you have a shot in mind, but have to wait quite long before the conditions are right. But you're patience is rewarded. Very nice shots!
