Doing Archaeology

I had a sudden urge to go break some shit but I channeled that energy to a somewhat productive project. My man might disagree...

We have an old house but the flooring is from different decades, all of the original wood flooring has been covered with degrees of unnatural materials, aside from the living room parquet. I’ve been curious about what the laminates have been hiding underneath them and hoping that the original wood flooring was first of all there, and secondly in a fair condition.

Today I started my archeological search through the flooring. I got a permission to dig up the master bedroom to see what horrors lie there. After taking out the baseboars, laminates lifted off easily but the hard part was the panel underneath that was nailed to the wood.

With some aggression and huffing and puffing, I got to reveal the original 1950’s wood flooring. Obviously it has some wear and tear but I already like it more than the modern laminates. Even the colour is quite beautiful, though I’ve yet to see it in daylight. I’m thinking white for the master bedroom but will probably have to enjoy this green for a bit before we can spruce up the floor.

I have quite a bit of cleaning to do tomorrow before I can really see what my new old floor looks like.

Looks good much prefer the floorboards 👌🏽. A quick sand and they'll be good to go
