Sleep keeps trying to escape me at night so hi here’s me waking up at 3pm and immediately heading out to shovel snow to punish myself for sleeping in. There are unhealthier ways I’m sure. I wonder how long it’ll take us to be fed up with the snow and get a little snow plower, I give it a month tops if it keeps snowing heavily every few days. It took me an hour of vigorous exercise to clear out the yard, luckily I had started in the evening already so it wasn’t that bad. Also the temperature had cooled down a few degrees which is a blessing when it’s snowing, heavy wet snow is the fucking worst.

The upside of being nocturnal is that I get to observe the nightly shades. Last night it was very cloudy after it stopped snowing so the low clouds together with the fresh snow reflected all the street and Christmas lights around to show a very eery coloured and unnaturally bright night. I’m not a fan of the light pollution usually but sometimes it looks cool.

I ended up eating sandwhiches and doing sudoku from the local paper in near darkness as I waited to get sleepy. Had to wait until morning and then missing the gorgeous day while hiding under covers with blackout curtains. Fun times.

I too often can't sleep at night, I just can't fall asleep and so I take the opportunity to listen to the silence of the night. I often go out on the balcony to observe the calm of the city, then go back inside to read. Until I get tired, or until I realise that it is too late to sleep.... So when I can, I fall asleep early in the morning and wake up for lunchtime, when I can't then shower and get out of the house... ahah

Silence bores me very fast but it’s a very nice contrast if you are used to having to listen to the city sounds. I really should pick up reading again, it’s been completely replaced by podcasts and audiobooks. What are you reading at the moment?

Yes, I often listen to podcasts too, but especially when doing cardio in the gym haha

I'm currently reading 'The Master and Margarita' by Bulgakov, a really great book. If you haven't read it I highly recommend it ;)

As you speak German I assume you live in Europe so you know we have four seasons! Not 30 degrees often but we get a good 20-28 degrees for a couple months usually.

I agree on the light pollution. Not a fan but can be bright enough to make it possible to shoot things at night surprisingly well.

When I can't sleep I shovel snow as well.

Not really.

I ended up eating sandwiches

This is actually what I do. Lol.
