Updates to my EDC Haversack June 2022

Since my previous EDC bag dump, I have updated some missing items and improved things. I'll start with what's new, go through each in detail and then some the whole contents.

The main new items are a new bag strap, a quick access pouch on the bag strap, a zip-pouch to contain small items, an emergency dog lead, a rain poncho and a key wallet.

The bag strap was replaced by an airsoft two-point rifle sling. The strap is wider, longer and more adjustable. The clips didn't fit the previous carabiners so these were replaced with some nylon webbing recycled from a dollar store lanyard. The quick access pouch contains a wallet and a reusable shopping bag.

A lot of the loose bits and pieces now go into an old zipper pouch. A few extra items fit easily too - money and some glasses cleaner. There is also a pen that I wrapped in duct tape and 3m luco tape. Although it makes the pen a bit fat and unwieldy, the pen is still usable.

Speaking of pouches, the cables have been rationalised, medicines added, candy restocked and mint oil replaced. I also added some orange oil but might leave that behind.

The keys were annoying, so I grabbed a key wallet and put all my keys and fobs inside. Once I finish renovating my new house and sell my old one then I won't have to carry so many keys! There is some emergency money in this wallet too. The fobs are held in using velcro sticky tabs.

And here's the full bag loadout, It's a little heavy, but not uncomfortable. It's great to be able to grab a bag and just go.

What's still missing? I need to find my NxN hooded neck gaiter or buy another one. I still need to add better food and water, and some water purification tablets. Still, this bag loadout is already much more practical.

Very pragmatic. 👍 😊 Maybe I should start preparing something like this too. 😊

Ahhh thanks for reminding me that I need to prepare my bug out bag (that I can also bring when I travel again), we all need one! I think I can start buying some of those stuff or maybe I'll start looking for a proper Swiss knife.

Hehe we have those candies too.

Yep, this bag works pretty well for most of what I do. A few items have to go into checked baggage. For outdoors, I have a different setup - but most of this stuff does transfer over.

it's ok, but I think u need a big fixed-blade knife / machete in there..

😜 j/k

it's all good. I really like the key wallet.. don't think anyone ever showed that, at least not to me.. till now.

I also like how u tie are the paracord and bags.. very organized. 👍

Heh, there's times I'll carry a fixed blade or machete. Not really good form around the city though.
I really like the key wallet - it is heavier than the loose keys, but it's easier to manage and does less damage to my clothes. The sticky-back velcro means I can remove fobs if I just need to take one or two with me. The secret is to put the hook side of the velcro on the wallet so that the fluffy side is on the key fobs and doesn't scratch up you clothes.

ahhh, I learned that it's important to get the right side of velcro in the right direction, or else it scratches and is not good.. when I was using velcro as my watch band after the rubber one broke.. 😄🤙

I like your bag. I'm starting one, starting small like you suggested. I'll start by building a first aid kit though. It seems I'll have more use for that than anything else.

Nice bag and post. This is a good idea for a post content. I may have to do one of these on my bag. I carry a leather messenger bag I bought several years ago. 🙂

Yeah, it's a good exercise - not just for content but to audit what it is you're carrying and comparing it with how your needs may have changed.
