WILD? 'JOLT' (2021) REVIEW
Jolt is an action film with strong language, violence and sexual content. It is not a movie for kids, my opinion. I watched this movie because of the star actress Kate Beckinsale who played a character named Lindy. She is one of my favorites in the movie Industry. Got to like her when I watched The underworld series. Since then I make sure to always watch her movies which have come to enjoy
wholeheartedly.
This movie was directed by Tanya Wexler and written by Scott Wascha. The director and writer did a good job with the movie and Lindy's character came out well with other characters in the movie. The audience score for the movie is 41% which is below average for me. Some audience said Jolt movie is a waste of time and a waste of resources.
Here is my opinion
Jolt is an action movie with lots of violence scenes. The storyline is interesting and kind of wild but not really wild. This movie allows the audience to gratify the pleasure of violence fantasies while exploring the ways in which anger can be used by the star actress. It shows what anger that can cause if it is not controlled. I enjoyed the movie and all the vibrant scenes there but there was a scene that me got kind of emotional; that was when Lindy's new boyfriend was found dead on the street. I felt her pain and anger. She was restless and was confused as to what to do, when she took it upon herself to search for the killer, making use of her impulsive disorder.
The fight scenes themselves are also bland. The reason I said this was because I noticed the scenes are identical to Jason Statham's Crank film series. If you have seen the movie you will know what I am talking about. At a point in the movie, it became bland and boring to me.
The audience ratings for this movie is 3.4 stars, but for me it is 3.9 stars, I would have given the movie a 4 star rating but the movie was not well portrayed as wild as it is supposed to be and the ending was not that satisfying for me. The way the movie ended I think we might be seeing more of Lindy soon in next sequels, but I hope not, because Jolt movie does deserve a sequel.
A quick run down of the synopsis
Jolt focuses on a lady who is a special person with an “impulse control problem” stimulated by anger which she has had since her childhood. With her disorder, she was subjected to a traumatic experience which involved using her for experiments, studies and all you could think of. As she grew up, her therapist found a solution to the disorder by creating a vest of electrodes through which she administers herself electric shocks, zapping her fantasies into submission whenever she get irritated or angry and wants to cause havoc. With the vest, she was able to live among people and partially socialize in the society and also with her weekly meetings with her therapist she was doing well.
On a fateful night, she went on a blind date which was her first time into the social world. She went and met a gentleman, an accountant Justin (Jai Courtney) which later turned into a steamy, romantic relationship. it made Lindy perspective about life and world change that she even considered not wearing her vest anymore.
On their date night, Justin did turn and later Lindy discovered that he had been killed.
It broke her heart and the pain was too much for her to bear. She went into a revenge mood by channeling her impulsive disorder to search for who the killer of her man is.
At the end she found out that Justin is who he said he is. He death was all staged by Justin himself and all the chaos that happened was all an experiment to test her and study her for more suggestible projects which gave the movie a possible upcoming sequel ending.
