Blink Of An Eye By Ted Dekker || Book Review.
Recently, I felt like reading one of Ted Dekker’s books. However, this is not my first time reading his books. I have read quite a few of his works years back, but not this particular one I am about to talk about today.
I have had this book on my long unending “To Be Read list” and when I was going through the list to see what I can read after a long break from reading. My eyes caught one of Ted Dekker’s books, ’Blink Of An Eye'. Immediately, I picked it up to read and all I can say now is that it was worth my time.
’Blink Of An Eye’ by Ted Dekker is a thriller and a religious fiction. It was published in 2011 with 432 pages. This book is not just ordinary fiction but in a masterful way, it is an allegory of a book in the bible, 1 Corinthians 13. Ted Dekker has never disappointed with his thriller works. It is always a rollercoaster ride.
I will try as much as possible not spoil this book for so many people who are yet to read this book.
Imagine that you have an impressive IQ that is higher than that of any person that has been recorded before in the world. With your IQ, you can have so many futuristic probabilities, normally mundane activities will be boring to you and to make things much weirder, you develop the ability to see into the future. What would you do? How will you make use of your incredible ability? What will your life be like?
Seth, a young college student, who was offered a job to work with the National Security Association. He can either be a huge asset or a huge threat to NASA. Seth thought his life was beginning to go well until he met Miriam, a very beautiful Middle Eastern princess who was running for her life from her people. When Seth encounters her, he sees a few minutes before even encountering her and he knew that if he failed to help her, she would die in the future. However, Seth was willing to step in and save her. He is willing to take that risk regardless of the fact that his life might also be in danger.
My Review And Rating.
Reading this book was an excellent ride of great action, good storyline, and fantastic characters. This book was so good that I got hooked on it deeply. I couldn't put the book down, I had to skip a night's sleep and it was worth it. It was just like watching a movie while reading this book. I say, Ted Dekker is the master of thrillers.
Ted wrote this book with a very unique style of writing. This book draws you in from the very first page and makes you start holding your breath because you're agitated to find out what happens in the next page. This book has a good suspense and tension that any distraction at the time might upset you.
The storyline was well written. The action scenes were amazing, the storytelling was fantastic (like watching a movie), the themes portrayed were strong and a little sensitive, but some of them tackled societal problems. The characters were well developed. The humor that was included was befitting and perfect. It helped balance the flow of the whole story. I was so engrossed in the journey of Seth Miriam from the beginning to the end. The chemistry and the attraction between them was so intense that I had to get some snacks to enjoy reading their scenes.
One thing I liked about this book was how Miriam’s life was portrayed to the readers, how difficult life can be for a woman living in the Middle East. How the women over there are treated like property to be owned, and restricting them from knowing their basic rights as a human. This societal issue was well addressed and depicted by Ted.
Also, I appreciate that Ted wrote this book in a third person POV. This made it easier for me to be able to relate with all the characters, feel all their emotions, understand their personalities, and they all feel real to me.
My favorite character in this book is Miriam. I love the devoted loyalty she has for her religion. Her view of the world is unique and brilliant. Seth also got on my good side with how passionate he was with helping Miriam. Also, Sultana, who is Miriam's friend, was interesting to read. Though, there wasn't much scene about her, but still she is this character that is unforgettable.
Ps: First edition of this book is titled ’Blink’ but it revised because of motion pictures adaptation into ’Blink Of An Eye’. I think for me, this is one of Ted Dekker's best books. I really had fun with this one. It was very ENTERTAINING!
Rating this book, I will give it 4.7 out of 5 stars. I would recommend this book to Dekker’s fans, and lovers of thrillers. If you haven't read this book, please do pick it up one of these days and read it.

I wish I have the chance to read this or some other book by this author, because what you mention about him is really fantastic. This work I would love to read it and even see it in a movie, it would certainly entertain me a lot, I think then that it was worth having skipped a night's sleep.
You add the book to your reading list, someday, the time will come.Or better still, you can watch the movie. It is an interesting and entertaining book. I enjoyed it a lot. I appreciate your visit and comment. Thank you for the comment.
Looks like a really amazing book. Would've read it today if not for the random exam alarm ringing at the back of my head.😔
