A coffee-flavored tribute party/ #STB Coffee Prompt Week 55
This was the third family party, a very nice initiative in which the family gathers in one of our houses and we have a party. In this activity, the hosts pay for everything: snacks, lunch, picadito, drinks, music and more.
For this kind of thing, my husband and I are toast and we like it very much. Besides, it is something very nice because it unites the family and strengthens the bonds of love between them.
One of the prerogatives of the hosts is to choose the date of the activity. The previous one was held in August and we were looking for the appropriate date because the previous ones had coincided with family events of the hosts. In one case it was the birthday of one of my sisters and in the other the wedding anniversary of one of my nieces.
When I talked to my husband about the date I proposed to make it on October 1st because it was International Coffee Day and that the party should have the particularity that the beverages to be offered should be coffee based. My husband thought it was a great idea because, in addition to the taste and love we both feel for coffee, it seemed a perfect pretext to avoid complaints about the lack of cocktails or alcoholic drinks.
The day of the party arrived and we prepared a video with images of the two previous activities. I must tell you that it was a very nice initiative because, in addition to choosing these images, we chose others of our relatives who do not live in our province or who live outside the country. Several tears came to the surface and, when the video ended, the room was flooded with hugs and kisses among the family members.
But, if our family members thought that the initiatives were over, they did not know us. Then came two more, but with the peculiarity that coffee was the protagonist. One was a hidden treasure and the other was a completing the sentence with elements that had to do with coffee.
We started to dance and we did it with the song by Juan Luis Guerra entitled Ojalá que llueva café (I wish it rains coffee) and when it was over I asked:
Up to this moment what elements of our party has characterized it. There began the answer:
The affection of the family said one niece, the initiatives said another, the contagious joy said another the thing related to coffee said the eldest of my nephews. My first cousin and my eldest sister also referred to coffee.
So far everything is very good, said my brother-in-law, but it strikes me that they have not even given us a beer or a shot of rum or a cocktail.
Then I told him that they were preparing the drinks to distribute them.
After half an hour we brought them a strong coffee for the men and a short coffee for the women. Suddenly my brother-in-law asked again, "When are you going to give us something to drink that has alcohol in it?
And there was no other choice but to reveal the surprise of the day
Today is International Coffee Day and the drink to be consumed will be coffee. As hosts we have the power to choose the dishes to eat and the beverage to consume. That is why we chose this day, that is why several initiatives were related to coffee and in our musical space some songs were related to coffee.
I recognize that we had to buy several packs of coffee and that they are not very economical to say, but, when it comes to family we never lose because everything is gain and there is nothing better than seeing happiness reflected in the ones we love.
