Gods Unchained - Splinterlands Alternative? No
I recently signed up to Splinterlands. Sadly, I could not level up to Bronze 2, and now I have to start from scratch. So I got mad and decided to find the alternative to the Splinterlands.
I know there are no alternatives to Splinterlands, but I was searching for any crypto game to spend my idle time, so I even found karastar earlier, which I posted a few days back. Then comes Bxie Infinity but both of them were turn-based games and not card based.
Then someone on noisecash suggested me God's Unchained. So I decided to sign up and check how it was an alternative to Splinterlands. After signing up, I blogged about how it was cool in terms of graphics and also complex compared to the splinterlands.
So let us check out what is different.
Set-up Process
You have to sign up to the game from the official site. You have to then link your wallets to the web based interface and one to your playable game.
Once the both places are connected you are good to go. This may take some hit and miss for some people who are not into metamask and the online wallet connections.
Dashboard
Initially once you are presented with the dashboard, everything becomes complicated and blank. No guided interface to tell you where to go. So you have to look around and check the tutorial prompt and follow the same.
It'd get you to complete the tutorial and then after that you would be able to get 3 deck of cards. You then are ready to play real games. But till then you are kind of stuck with AI and initial demo games.
Cards
Initial set that you get is extremely basic. You get to choose from various factions like death, magic, light etc. And then collect the cards outside the set that you get for free. And once you start building that you would have to use them in the battle.
I won't hold it against them. But once the specific threshold goes you have to buy the cards to play the game. Then it becomes pay to win as your churning and the efforts become more serious.
Where's the NFT?
You have to do a lot to even get your cards leveled up before they can have any NFT value. So making the hybrids and powerful NFT out of these resources would take a lot of time. I didn't even yet reached anything in 1st levels of game to say anything about NFT. But I'd take word of other players and say that there is a value for this considering they are not on BSC or Polygon but directly on Ethereum so ignoring gas fees, they would give some return of investment.
How complex is the game?
The game is extremely complex compared to the splinterlands. Like you have to pick cards, manually drop onto the opponets summoner and the other cards. You have to also tell the turn to another and slowly move.
Like really? You have to press the button like you do playing chess with another in professional matches? except we are talking card games here. We are few days close to 2022, save my time boys. Make things easier to play, don't complicate them.
Conclusion
It's not by any means a replacement of Splinterlands. Not just because it is more complex. But also because churning the game is kind of painful. Call me lazy or boring person but too many steps to take? I am out of game.
