Blockchain Use Case: Employment History Verification
Blockchain has tremendous potential to keep records of various details on the web. And they can be used to solve some of the industry problems too. If used the right way, it can solve a lot of identity verification, background check, and verification issues in the employment industry.
Let's consider the problem of how HR teams have to spend time going through the employee's documents. They have to double-check for references of past employments. All of this can also be stages and harder for HR teams to verify.
How can this problem be solved using the Blockchain?
Ledger as an Employment History Register
Let's assume a scenario where each company is a node and maintains it's own ID. When the ledger adds entries of the employed people under that ID, it allows the record to be processed on the ledger.
So John doe, HR got employed by ABC company in 2015. In case of Jane Doe, designer she got employed by Acme in 2016. Each of them having records that identify their identity, companies identity, year of employment in one record.
Same for the employee leaving the company. That data too should be on the blockchain. This way the employee would be tracked on this blockchain and so does the company for it's hiring registery.
How Blockchain Solves the Employment Verification Problem?
If implemented the right way, it can keep track of anyone's job gaps, company switch, salary and duration and other historical details of the job. This way, the documents' job frauds and forgery can be reduced.
The employment world would be a lot easier to manage for HR and also the companies can keep an eye on the employees who are genuine and not forging their way into the industry. It can save a lot of money and time of the companies and the HR teams.
Identity Frauds, Company Shutdown and Getting a Job, How do you solve that?
Let's assume that your company shut down, what would you do in that case. In such a case, it'd be possible for the employees to maintain a record that their company was real, and also it exists on blockchain as a record so they are not doing the identity fraud.
Does their job gap increasing? And they are making fake documents to fill that? In that case the blockchain can show the gaps easily. And they have to explain it. So unless the company is not on the blockchain, there is hardly any excuse.
This type of structured process can help with the blockchain to be embedded into the industry that has a lot of fraud, closure and other employment issues. Though such blockchains can't solve global problems, they can be used in sub-niche and can be used to improve employment.
What do you think?
Do you think blockchain-based history verification system in HR industry would be helpful? Do you think it would solve some of the common problems with jobs and companies? Do you think it would help build trust?

Employment history, schooling, and medical records.
All can be part of the blockchain world. You are correct on that. However, to fully have that, we truly do need a digital id system (well not for the first two since they tend to be public record).
