The Market Of The Future - Part 2

Two days ago I had a post in which I shared some photos about the market of the future in my opinion. It was a craft market that I hope to see organized more often and spread all over the country and abroad as well. This kind of markets are combining the part with the future, bringing traditional craft products made with new techniques.

There's always demand for these products, people are buying what they have to offer because these products are not mass production products. It's always nice to buy a present for someone, when you know you don't find it on any corner.

I think the photo speaks for itself, but if not, I'm going to translate to you what you see here. Remember the times when nobles went to a pick-nick with a cane basket, in which there was table cloth, porcelain plates, glass cups and canvas napkins? Today we go with plastic bags, plastic plates, plastic cups, plastic cutlery and when the pick-nick is finished, there's a pile of plastic left behind, which will never decompose.

This basket was similar to those cane baskets, lined with canvas. There were cutlery wraps made of canvas, washable and reusable of course. Instead of plastic plates, you have these wooden plates you can wash and reuse. Obviously you can't carry these on your back, so it only works if you have a car, but it's still a step towards a healthier lifestyle.

There were sandwich bags, canvas napkins, canvas shopping bags and makeup removal pads, which are washable in washing machine, which reminds me, I should make myself a few and start acting like a responsible adult who cares about the environment 😳. Good ides, this will be my next project.

These are the markets where you can find limited series clothes, if you like this style.

That scarf, with a matching dress can look ravishing.

And this is where the true art starts. This is traditional embroidery in Transylvania, you can see tablecloths, bags, book covers, book signs with this type of embroidery, which is called írásos, which translates to written in English, because it's like writing.

Imagine women back in those days, making their own embroidery as well as canvas for their clothes. Must have been tough.

The traditional ceramics from Korond can't be missing, there's no fair without these lovely handmade, hand painted beauties. I was tempted to buy a magnet, or a nice keepsake box, but was able to resist temptation.

Leather bags and wallets. Leather is a controversial topic, vegans are not going to like this. This is definitely not my style, but I'm sure there's demand for these products.

Wooden toys is a thing again. Centuries ago these were the only toys lucky kids had. Poor kids had nothing. Now we're back to wooden toys for a different reason. Those blockhead figures are so cute, I wish I bought one. I'd love to have one on my desk.

Hand painted jewellery, if you love the style.

Puppets, I think that's what these are called. This can not only be entertaining, but educational as well. They can learn a lot by trying to impersonate the animal they choose.

More wooden toys for every age and gender. You can buy trains, board games, kitchen sets for girls, spoons painted with doll faces and so on. These toys have the advantage of lasting way longer than plastic.

I think it's called macrame and it's a widespread art. I always wanted to learn it and never did.

Odd choice for earrings, but who knows, maybe there are women eager to wear them.

This was a wall decoration I love. It's simple, made of rope or thread and it's cute. It gave me a good idea to make something similar. It's not a big deal really.

Lavender 😇 I took the photo and left as fast as I could to save myself from the strong fragrance. One day I need to put on a mask and go closer, see what they are offering. I like the products, but need to keep the fragrance away from myself.

These wooden plates were looking cool, but after a closer look, I don't think I could pick one I would have bought. Am I too fussy? Maybe, but that's not necessarily a bad thing.

Macrame key chains. Have you ever seen such things?

Looking at this photo, most likely the majority of you will see the jewellery, but as this is not my style, what caught my eye was the so called paintings. Those were obviously not paintings, but I don't know how to call them. Framed wall decorations? Would look good in kids room. Simple, but very cool.

This market made me realize how much I miss creating something. I've been focusing on crypto lately and had no free time for anything else.

And this is where I stopped for a good reason. In my other post I said I needed a wall clock, as the old one has died. When I stopped here, I knew I'm not going to leave without a clock and although they only had two, I knew which one will be mine. Can you guess which one I chose? 😎

This was something I've never seen before. Enameled ceramic flowers. I like the idea as it's better than those ugly artificial (plastic lowers), or paper and silk, but the problem is these are very fragile. I mean one knocking and they are done. Plus they weigh a lot as well. However, there was a woman buying 5 or so.

Last, but not least, there's no fair without gingerbread!

This is starting to become a habit already. I leave the market and regret not buying certain items. Then decide what to buy next. Today for example I have decided to buy one of those block head wooden toys. Let's see if I can still get one somehow.

Visiting this market was a lot of fun and I hope to be able to see this kind of offer more often, elsewhere too. It's time for a shift in mentality. Also it gave me a few idea, how to become more responsible and protect the environment. So hang on as more nice projects are coming soon. I need to get my creative spirit back and start creating.
