Moments Of Life

Yesterday I posted a series of photos from the International Hungarian Photo Salon of 2022, and today I'd like to show you a couple more. Bear with me as it's going to be interesting.

20231018_114106a.jpg

Curiosity

This is a bittersweet one for me. While I think it's a brilliant shot, captures a nice scene you don't see every day, only if you're in the right place at the right time (as I said yesterday), it's still sad there are people living in those conditions. The fact that the author of the photo chose to position the window on the right side and include the wooden door (I think it's a wooden door) makes it more interesting.

20231018_114047a.jpg

Lonely Tree in the Twilight

Sorry for the extra light, which is not part of the wonderful photo.

20231018_113931a.jpg

Four Quarters

I'll let you describe this.

20231018_114147a.jpg

Steadfastly

This cross at the peak of the mountain is the symbol of those who are still standing steadfastly, despite of the persecution, discrimination and the hardship. The weather conditions at that high altitude are not nice, so this cross has to resist strong wind, rain, snow, strong sun and so on. What I love about it is the clouds in the back, looking like a soft blanket.

20231018_114207a.jpg

Gate Section, Zetelaka

This is a beautiful one and perfect in my eyes as I have an addiction for nice doors, door handles and windows. I love the contrast between the bluish wood on the left and the painted one on the right. The funny thing with these old locks and door handles is that pretty soon you won't see any of these beauties. With today's technology, pretty soon we're going to open doors with out phone, or who knows. Back then the door or the gate was the first image you saw about the owners, so to speak.

20231018_114226a.jpg

Tradition and Fad

This is also a brilliant one if you can see the meaning. If not, let me explain it to you. On the left you see two young man dressed in traditional Transylvanian, Hungarian folk costume, peeling Easter eggs. Basically they are dressed for Easter as those clothes are now only for special occasions. On the right, the boy representing the new generation, more interested in playing with his phone. He could not care less about the tradition. This photo paints a realistic picture of the current situation.

20231018_114252a.jpg

The Source Of Our Strength

With the risk of repeating myself, this is brilliant. I hope you can see why. If not, here's why. What you see on the photo is a young couple, holding a bucket that is most likely coming out of a well. This is how water was supplied at the countryside, before tap water was available. Water is a necessary ingredient in life. With this photo, the photographer took us back in history a few decades, or even more. It would be fun to know how he did the photo. I suppose the bottom of the bucket was removed, or the camera was set accordingly. It is a brilliant idea in any case.

20231018_114316a.jpg

Holiday

To be honest, I've never seen such an event. These are people dressed in Hungarian folk costumes, sitting in the church. In some part of Transylvania this is traditional during Easter, most likely Christmas too. I'm wondering for how long such a tradition can live on? From photographic point of view, the photographer chose the best spot to take the photo from.

20231018_114333a.jpg

Traditions

Again, the best word to describe this photo is brilliant! Absolutely brilliant! Look at the door first of all, that frames the whole photo with its wonderful blue color, not to mention the texture. The design takes you back in time with half a century or more. Then the old lady dressed in traditional folk costume and her age I think matches the age of the door. What she represents is an era, when people know the difference between festive clothes and every day wear. They made their own costumes and wore it with a lot of pride. In the photo she's smiling at the cat, which is part of their life. Look at her face, the joy she feels just looking at the cat. These people knew how to appreciate little things.

20231018_114424a.jpg

Six Pack

I'm not joking, the title of this photo is what you see above, Six Pack. Have you ever seen such a six pack? I have, at the exhibition.

It is a funny photo for sure and I can't even begin to imagine how one can come up with such and idea, but I like it. I like this kind of staged photography. It's not easy as you have to find the models and train them to do what you want, this is why it is interesting and unique.

Looking at these photos, I think we can all agree that most of them, if not all, are brilliant. Now, you can have the best camera in the world, but you also need to see the opportunity and also create the opportunities you need. Most of the scenes are creations of the moment, but some of them are staged.

Now comes the well known question. Which one is your favorite today? Let me know in a comment :)

Six pack has to be my favourite. The more I think of it, the deeper its meaning gets. 6 different people, 6 different lives,6 different shapes and sizes, and a metaphor to who knows how many things.

Exactly, 6 different of everything. I'm glad you like that as it's a very interesting one. I hope to see more of this kind.

I like unstaged photos more. Those that capture real moments. So I mist say I like Curiosity, Tradition and Fad and Tradition. But Curiosity is my most favorite. The framing and angle put together the meaningful objects in one frame.

I like unstaged photos as well, but somehow, when I see staged photos, interesting concepts like the 6 pack, I want more. Most likely one day I'm going to start experimenting.

The one you mentioned are great, good choice.

Awww... I am greatly enjoying your series of articles based on photographic exhibitions... I am even feeling the need to leave this small and hidden town where I live and visit one of our cities where I can enter a photo or painting exhibition :)... But that will be later...

Today I fell in love with the photo titled "Traditions"... What a lovely job!...

Thank you very much for sharing your photographic and reporting work with us on #Hive @erikah friend!

Four Quarters is my favorite or more like Four Eyes lol. I am a son of a carpenter and I have always admired the grains in wood since I was a child. The smell of saw dist reminds me of working in my parents woodworking shop when I was younger. Great post, I haven't been to a museum or gallery in a while.

I have always admired the grains in wood since I was a child.

Then there's the two of us as I have an addiction to wood. I admire the prints the wood is giving us and often take photos of freshly cut wood surfaces. People were a bit shocked on Hive to see those photos, but I find it lovely 😁 The smell of wood is also nice, that unfortunately doesn't come through the photos.

Thanks for the nice comment and I hope you get to visit a museum soon.

All the photos are beautiful. The extra light make this photo look more amazing even though the light was not part of the plan, lol. And the six pack photo looks funny 😄

Music to my ears, if you like it. I think each country has its own style when it comes to museums and art in general, but good thing we have Hive as you got to see things from the other end of the world.

Six pack 😃 everyone seem to like it, which is good.

I particularly loved the photo titled "Tradition and Fad," which brilliantly captures the tension between tradition and modernity. It's a snapshot that speaks volumes about the changing times.

Great post as always @erikah

That's a great one and I'm glad you can see the meaning of it. The scene may not mean much to those witnessing it at the time of happening, but put it like that, with a title, it's brilliant.

Thanks for the nice comment @rak7! I really appreciate it. I'm still trying to find time to read your story from the beginning to the end. I hope I can get there soon 😀. Keep up the good work and let me know if you need any help.

I'm still trying to find time to read your story from the beginning to the end. I hope I can get there soo

I completely understand that life can get busy, and finding time to read can be a challenge. I'm thrilled to hear that you're interested in my story and are planning to read it from start to finish.

Take your time @erikah; the story isn't going anywhere! =D

I loved Six Pack. I just love things that are out of the normal. It reminds me of the Dumchamp piece of art of a woman walking. Thanks for sharing.

Six pack is really an out of the box thinking and original for sure.

Shame on me, but I had to look up Dumchamp. Thanks for mentioning. I'm going to check his works out.

Let me know what you think of his art. He is most known for his urinal piece of art.

He was a nonconformist for sure 😃, most likely had a lot of problems due to his art in those times. Those who dared to be different met a lot of obstacles and oppression, but how else are we going to make some progress if everyone plays by the rules and no one dares to create something extraordinary out of the box type art. I saw his his urinal piece of art, he must have blown the fuse with it 😁

Definitely one of those that make people say.. "How can this be art" "I know how to do this".. Well, do it then haha.. What's stopping you from doing it.

I honestly love out-of-the-box, unconventional, it is my favorite. And the more controversy the better haha.

Lol, I know what you mean but not many dare to do it. It depends on what's your end goal. If you're creating art for money, you need to please the public. The real art is not that though. Pleasing the public is not art.

I hope I can bring more out-of-the-box type or art and photographs of photographs (Like these ones) in the future 😁

What a nice art exhibition, my favorite was the last one, the six pack, because it shows different bodies and sexes in a natural and subtle way, just bodies. @erika 😉

Excellent, as always. I especially liked the one with the cross, because of the idea it brings in the background, to resist and also that our values are not affected in the process. Happy day!
