Hivestats Review - The Way I See It
Ever since we forked, there has been a need for a tool to monitor our activity on Hive, some kind of all in one tool and trustworthy too. We've got the old Hivestats, which has covered some of the needs but there have been a lot of things missing.
It's been a few days since Hivestats got a new face. I've been testing it, trying to get used to it and I think I'm ready to share my thoughts with the dev team and the community. I have to warn you from the beginning, this is not the ***** review you are looking for. These are things I like or don't like and not something you write to look good in other people's eyes. With this review I'm hoping the dev team can get a honest feedback and maybe consider implementing what I'm asking. Also I need to mention that I haven't red any of the other reviews, so there may be things other have already written about, which is good in a way as it means more people think the same. Ok, let's get to it.
Light Mode vs Dark Mode
I'm not necessarily a fan of dark mode, but it's good to have a choice, like in this case. In light mode the numbers are gray, which makes it harder to see. After staring to the screen all day, it's tiring for the eye to struggle with the gray fonts. Even with the dark mode, I had to zoom in as the fonts seem too small for me.
Log-in
The log-in feature is not just to have fun in this case. Once you have logged in, you can do financial transactions like power up, power down, transfer HIVE to savings etc. For this reason using the well trusted login methods are more then welcome.
The only thing that I have to mention here is I could not find how to log out. Maybe I'm too tired and can't see it. If there's an option, please let me know where to look for it as it would be important to be able to log out, not just switch accounts.
Wallet
The design of the wallet is not something I like. Sorry to disappoint you, but that's the truth. The right side is empty, except for the drop-down arrows and it looks like half finished.
The good thing though is that you can make transactions right from Hivestats, which is new. I haven't tried it out yet, but I'm sure it works well.
Analytics
This part comes in handy if you're interested in tracking your account's performance. I like the speed a lot, compared to the old one it's quite fascinating, it's loading instantly, without any delay.
Pending Author Rewards
This is also a very good tool to have, you can check your earnings if you're interested. The big problem with the current format is that there's no Hide Dust Payout option. I bet there are users happy to scroll through pages of zero value, especially when it comes to comments as those are less voted, but I'm personally not a fan of wasting time this way. Therefore a Hide Zero Value or Hide Dust Payout option would be more than welcome.
Also I really appreciate that the total is at the bottom and it' fixed, doesn't disappear once you start scrolling, like at the old one.
Fonts In General
Fonts in general are small. Zooming in can help, but the name of each section is still small.
I'm sure the font size can be modified. I personally would be grateful, would be more visible.
What Is Missing
Hivestats & Leo DEX In One
Probably this is a big ask and it may never happen, but I'd like to have one tool for everything instead of using two.
Now that Hivestats has a log-in option with transaction possibilities, I believe we could handle tribe token transactions using Hivestats.
I suppose a drop down menu could be implemented, something similar to what we have now in Wallet, to have all the features offered by Leo DEX. As I said in the beginning of my post, I'd like an all in one tool.
Layout
I suppose I won't be popular for this (not that I'm trying to be :P), but this layout is extremely confusing for me. Maybe I'm used to the hivetasks.com layout, but don't like this and most likely will not use it. This goes to Hive Engine Operation section too. For me it would work better with a drop down thing. Leave the essential info and hide under the drop down thing the one we don't necessarily need.
Clicked on the selected position, the drop down thing can reveal the rest. Would give us a more clear view of the operations list, without getting lost in the details we don't need all the time.
My apologies for not being able to explain it better. I'm not a dev and don't have the tech vocabulary and my crappy English is not enough in this case.
Again, please note, this is not criticism, it's my opinion, it's how I see the new tool we've got.
Last, but not least, I'd like to say thank you to the Leo Dev Team and everyone who worked on creating this tool for us! I really appreciate it and looking forward to seeing the improvements, if there will be any.

An honest review which is always good to see as nothing is ever going to be perfect no matter how hard everyone tries. I like the idea the team worked on something that was decent already which tells us no stones are left unturned.

Thank you! The old one needed some work indeed. Let's hope the updates can keep coming.

I've been looking for the "hide dust" option, too. Though I have dust sweeper to turn the dust into... well.. grains of sand?
And a lot of us probably still mourn Steemworld ;)
We still have the hive version of Steemworlds, I hope you know that, it's just not run by steemchiller.

My bad, I still haven't had time to check it out and play with it. I guess I will get to it sooner or later.

No rush, it's not going to go anywhere :)

The new Hivestats.io is clearly better than the former. We now have a more decent and sharp outlook.
I hope your recommendations are being considered.
Well done

Well, it's a process that takes time. I hope the dev team is going to read it and implement what they can. After all these reviews are for them and made from the users perspective. They are thinking differently.

Hopefully!
I'm sure they'll take out time to read the reviews and act where necessary.

I hadn't realised there's a new version, it runs a lot smoother than before. There's also an awful lot of information, particularly on the Operations side, not sure if all that information is required. By the way, do you know what they Efficieny % under Pending Curation Rewards is? Is that like the return ?
I agree with you on the "operations" side. I bet all that information is useful, but not at first glance. It should be available, but also should be hidden and clickable if needed.
Efficiency % under Pending Curation Rewards is the return of your curation. Theoretically it's 100% but in real life it's never 100%. Votes on comments usually have less than 100% return, 99% usually, while return on post curation sometimes can be less than 100% and sometimes more than 100%, depending on when you are voting and who's voting after you.

This is actually great feedback! We have to make this more readable. Also lesser text. I like how hiveblocks.com do it.

Thank you! I hope the dev team agrees as well. There's information that can be hidden as serves no purpose for us, unless you want to investigate something, which doesn't happen every day. It would be easier for the eye, less confusing.

Thank you for your thoughtful review of hivestats and for including both what you like and don't like about it!
Feedback needs to be more than just... I love it!

Thank you @whatsup, you are right. Devs need to know how the users see it, otherwise they have no clue what to adjust and how.
Unfortunately I made a huge mistake and only realized after posting.
This review is only for the desktop version and there's a mobile version as well, which is a totally different thing. I should have included that too but it's too late now.
