Bricks, Poppies And Optical Illusion
Today I wanted to clear my head and thought it would be nice to take a walk, enjoy nature and take some photos as well. This is the case when we say to associate pleasant with useful in Hungarian. So I headed to the fortress as that's like a magnet to me. It serves as a place to relax, think, recharge my battery and also a very nice place to take photos.
The weather was nice, a bit cold and windy, but the sky was blue, the sun was shining, which is the prefect ingredient for a good photo shoot. Not the wind though.
You probably know by now that I'm a huge brick and architecture fan. In this place you can find both and nature too. With this occasion I thought it would be nice to practice alignment.
What you see above is an unedited photo. To my surprise, this nice brick wall was decorated with some poppies, which I've never seen here before. I could not be happier as it looks great.
I'm not sure if these poppies were planted or it's mother nature's creating, but I tend to believe it's the first one as this area is highly cared for, the grass is watered regularly, nothing is left unattended. In any case, it was a good idea.
Then I took this photo. Don't ask me how as I have no idea. When I got home saw on my laptop that it's not exactly what I was gunning for. It's true that the wind was blowing, but only the poppy was affected by the wind as birds are not blown by the wind. It's not photo manipulation either as I'm illiterate in that area.
My knowledge about poppies is limited, but I've heard poppies are hard to get rid of. Once the seeds are spread, they grow everywhere. If that is true, I'm going to find poppies here each year.
I could not leave without taking some photos of bricks. These are rough ones as most of the bricks are already broken. Time has an effect on everything.
I suppose these are poppy buds.
Flowers and other plants don't care, they grow on the top of the wall, wherever they get a bit of soil to go roots. I'm always amazed how they can grow in the weirdest places, without any care.
These flowers are always a source of inspiration. Imagine the fight they have to put up to stay alive in an environment that is anything but friendly. No fertile soil, no regular watering and so on.
And I could not leave without taking a photo of my favorite place.
I stood in this place, trying to align things and look at it. The photo is not straightened. It's not easy to hold the phone steady, but not impossible either. I need more practice though.
Here's a black and white version as well. I'm not sure which one is better. Most likely it depends on who you are asking.
So this is my weird photo shoot of the day. Take your pick.

seeing buildings like this we can go back several tens of years ago
Rather centuries as the original wall was built somewhere in the 13th - 14th century.
it must be very exciting to visit this place full of history
Black and white photos are really cool and classic looking. I love it 🥰
I'm glad to hear that 😊
All the photos were great, it's always nice to take a walk to relax, and take advantage of capturing the art that surrounds us.
I also fix the photos, they usually come out shaky hahaha.
I loved the bricks, art and more art.
Thanks for sharing your experiences. Greetings and beautiful day to you @erikah 🍀
Thank you @dayadam. I'm trying to take photos that do not need fixing, but most of the time that is not what happens. However, I'd like the editing to be minimal.
Thanks for stopping by and have a nice day :)
Nice photo shoot, especially at the bricks: tells of the time that was!
I really like the geometric research in the last photo.
Is the grid that appears to you a camera function or a dedicated post processing program?
The grid I have on my camera is not this detailed. It has 2 horizontal and 2 vertical lines, just to guide you. This grid is on Google Picasa.
Hey Erika
These are lovely photos, glad you got such a beautiful sunny day to go walk about. I've always loved poppies, they have significance and are so darn pretty to look at.
Love the unintentional double exposure, that's pretty cool. Gives the picture movement.
Keep an eye on that patch when the poppies have gone to seed, the seedpods make gorgeous decorations! 💚
Hi Emma, nice to see you 😃.
I did not want to mention double exposure, to avoid influencing people. However, I need to investigate what happened as it's the first time. I find it cool too 😎
Thanks for the advice and I believe you, but this is on public domain and there are cameras everywhere, so ... rather not commit vandalism 😂
Btw, I still smiling when I see my African violets and remember your adventure when the leaf became compost in your bag 😂
Hahaha I am not 100% sure that's the correct term but it makes sense to me to call it double exposure 🤣
Ok, yes true, wouldn't want you getting accosted for picking poppy seed pods, but at least get some pics of them?
I still laugh at myself about that, what a stupid move on my part and an absolute waste of a potential free plant. Can't wait to see your flowers! Have a good one 🦋
Beautiful shots
Thank you!
Interesting to see that we kinda live in parallel. My (aiming to be ultra long) trip just brought me to Serbia and while walking around yesterday I also focused on bricks and walls. Mainly impressed by the fact that so many of them are just bare bricks unrendered. Post about it coming soon. So we're geographically closer but also activity wise :)
Interesting to know that we kinda live in parallel 😃
It's nice to know you're a brick and wall fan too. I need to check your posts 😏
Thanks for letting me know and take care, have a safe trip!
