Earth Meal | Drawing with the Note 10+

I've been suffering from severe artist block in the last couple of months. Needless to say, I try so hard to come up with artworks, but I always somehow find myself starting one but never really getting to complete any.

And when I say that I start one but never complete any, I mean it. I think I have more than 5 incomplete artworks waiting for their time to be finished. This one, which I call Earth Meal, is one of them.

...until today, that is, when I finally, finally, found the heart to conclude its waiting game. Granted, this was supposed to be a practice piece because I seriously felt like my drawing skills were starting to collect dust, but I liked it still, even when portions turned out to be a little shabby.

Earth Meal

I used this photo from Pinterest as reference. I chose this particular reference because I loved the ambience and the colors. I seriously thought it looked pretty and I just wanted to translate it in my own way by drawing.

There is also no particular reason why I call it Earth Meal. While drawing, the song earth meal by Rin音 and asmi came up, and I just feel like it fits the feels of this drawing.

I started the artwork in the first week of September this year. Yeah, it sat for a whole two months in my phone, nearly three. Over the course of the last two months, I would try to add some few things for progress, but they never really come all down to this conclusion.

I personally feel that had I drawn this early this year, this would have turned better. But... I like this still.

The only brush I used here was MediBang's watercolor brush. To blend, I played with the color picker and the brush's opacity and ease of mixing colors properties.

It felt flat, so I ended up adjusting the colors once again with Snapseed.

I missed doing this, but here's a progress GIF! It has been a long, long time since I last did something similar, so I hope you like it!

Notes

I still have some n incomplete artworks to do, so you might expect to hear from me as long as they live. LMAO. I might get busy because of an ongoing research writing for a conference, though, so... let's see. I seriously pray that I can keep this up.

Also, this post and the artwork is called Earth Meal because, as mentioned earlier, it's from the song of the same name. You can listen to a clip of it here! (Not sure if the embed will display in other frontends; I hope it does!)

The light on the fabric with the blue in the distance is so striking and gives such moment to the piece, love it @erangvee

I agree with that! I am also at the point in my artistic journey that I no longer take other peoples skills a competition but rather an inspiration. You inspired a beginner artist here,,, so thank you so much. 😊

Your drawing transmits calm, serenity, and hope. The hair is beautiful, I like the dynamism in it, it fits very well with the atmosphere of the background, it's as if the wind was blowing and little strands were moving because of it. I think the time it took you to finish the drawing was worth the wait, it's beautiful.
