Time flies yet again
Ahh gross, this makes me feel old.
Yes, I could opt out, but the posts are usually harmless. The difference between "spam" and "helpful" messages in this space is a matter of so-called community approval. In terms of stuff showing up on my posts, if I'm not downvoting them, they are more or less welcome there.
Anyways, it's been five years since I joined Hive (I started in its predecessor). I wish I could be as jubilar as others with flowery language and overhyped enthusiasm. In fact, it feels more like celebrating your birthday in your 30s. You see it, and you wonder where the time has gone.
I have dabbled in different activities on this chain. I went from trying to be a content creator of a specific type of content to anti-abuse. I tried to be involved in governance at various levels. Through those experiments, I eventually found things I find more comfortable.
I still maintain that my activities on Hive are a productive hobby. There's less stress when I'm simply a user versus being deeply involved in ventures that cost my time without much compensation. Unlike some folks, I don't have the leisure to scrutinize every detail or volunteer for free for someone else's benefit. I have other commitments like a full-time job and a family.
Those of you who have devoted much of your time here without much compensation, I salute you. You are the champions of this developing community. I wish some of you had more support.
Of course, I didn't mean to be doom and gloom. An anniversary only happens once a year. So, that warrants some attention, right? Many happy returns, I suppose.
Feel free to ask me anything. I've seen things.

Happy Hive birthday man. I think I'll be 5 years old too on May (taking into account that my first account was @flaws).
Despite having been on the chain for about the same amount of time, it's quite curious that several things I've done here are totally different from yours. Hive is a small place, but quite big at the same time.
To this day I've focused on different things to accomplish, lately I'm still trying to be an active content creator, but reaching that goal of feeling totally rewarded for the time you put in is much more complex than someone may think. When you were trying to be a content creator, what were you aiming for? Did you just dedicate all your time to create something of quality or did you try to share with more content creators? Didn't you feel lost at times?
Currently as a content creator I'm not doing well, so I'd like to hear from the voice of experience :)
Thanks!
At first, I really wanted to focus on gaming-related content. But, that made the games I play feel so much less enjoyable.
It took some time before I found topics I like to write about.
As for reach, rewards, etc., my involvement with anti-abuse in the past helped with networking. So, mingling with others or participating in projects do expand your network.
Even today, I probably wouldn't dare call myself a "content creator". I'm a hobby writer.
Coincidentally 90% of my content is about gaming, and it's totally the opposite, I enjoy games even more for being able to tell my experience xd.
I spent some time on the anti-abuse thing, but I feel it's much more time-consuming and it also wore me out mentally by doing it in a global way. Maybe I should start doing it again at least for hobby idk.
I guess being a "hobby writer" is the key to success after all :)
Yeah, I find doing it as a hobby much more relaxing.
If I'm all about the money, I'll just go work several overtime hours and use that capital to buy assets.
Antiabuse is really only viable if you have a decentralized framework within your own communities (or a lot of central funding from proposals). Trying to bite off more than you can chew is not fun.
Happy Hivefive! Thanks for building all the kingdoms we live in. Here is a 👑 for you!
Thanks!
I didn't do much. Many of you did the work.
Did you print that?
Yes, a couple days ago for someone.
That's really cool!
Did you ever start that small side hustle selling printed goods?
Nah. No money selling printed goods. Tiny margins tons of competition lots of labor and materials.
If you can build your own niche model you might do well. Many of the models out there are not allowed to be sold too.
Making models is far more profitable.
😍
You have a lot to be grateful for… mistaken for a “bot”, air fryer stuff, the-shitpost-channel…
Seriously though, “you’ve paid you dues” as they say (just before they dump you).
Actually seriously, happy anniversary. I’m grateful for your presence, patience, and influence. Stay you. 💪❤️🔥
I did casual maintenance. lol
Wow, 5 years have passed, congratulations on the achievement. It's hard to stick to one place for continuous five years, but you did and well ;)
I did. Well is another story.
Happy hive fifth birthday. Yeah you are absolutely right. I am also your very old member but I stopped working I started again two months ago and now I have made up my mind that I will not leave it because it is very interesting work and talk to other people. It feels great to do. I am also trying to post and comment daily and be very active here. I love learning and watching and posting about gold so I do a post about it and a post about what I do. Hive is very good and strong platform.
Thanks!
Just do it to your heart's content. Never force it.
Most welcome.
I also try to do what my heart says.

That is a great achivement 😉
Happy 5 year on Hive Bday 🥂
I been here 6 years this summer and I totally feel you on the...
Where did the time go? Insane how fast time goes nowdays, hard to keep up. I think we all have different journeys but one thing we have incommon tho... We still here 😜
Lots have happened in those years on chain but for me its The People here who made this place my home, many friends that I today call family.
But the personal growth been my biggest achivement since I got here, I always been all about engaging and commenting, that was my thing and then I found a new passion in photography so that been my favorite thing to post... As for silver 😁 Lol
I came here and knew nothing about earning things and today I know much more but I still am here cause of the People. And I totally got sucked into hive game like splinterland so I am all hooked.
Congrats again and I wish you a wonderful weekend. Cheers 🌸
Thank you for the kind wishes. Here’s hoping for many more.
Glad you here and I am in on 🥂 for many more 😉 happy sunday
