The more expensive penny you'll see

avatar

Premiums and precious metals prices have been going up. I decided that I wanted to buy more standard bars versus fancy collectibles.

I chose a silver round in the form of a penny for kicks and giggles. As I mentioned in the title, this is probably the more, if not the most, expensive American penny out there.

It's too bad the reverse side didn't have the same designs as an actual penny. Whatever, an ounce of silver is an ounce of silver. The rest of my haul is standard silver bars and some gold from the APMEX exchange. I didn't think they were worth displaying on a post.

Back to premiums and an uptick in prices, APMEX is enforcing minimum purchases again. I don't know if it's a business tactic to take advantage of the hidden hysteria or if people are panicking. The requirement of $250 is not too difficult if you are the type who likes free shipping like me. That threshold is $200. So, it equates to about another ounce or two of silver at current prices.

Regardless of what you read in the news, there's a problem in the current financial system. It's been echoed by many people, even on Hive, for years. We can continue to pretend everything is okay. I think things will happen faster and faster now. Of course, this is no financial advice. I will keep on stacking.

I always come back to wanting to buy metals, I just never can get myself to do it. I just don't want the responsibility to storing and protecting pounds of metal and paying a 1-2% yearly premium for the extra insurance so it is actually covered in a fire/theft.

There's always crypto.

The point is having something you control.

Very cool round! I haven't seen it before! That sucks that APMEX is doing minimum purchases again, and their premiums can be high too. That's why I've been sticking to local jewelers/ gold and silver shops lately.

Damn bastards! It's been tough lately, fewer people are willing to sell. Guess I'll just have to dust off the old gold pan and find it myself!

It could be a business tactic to sell more, nobody is scheming to stop buying these precious metals these days. The coin has a nice portrait :)

The way we are seeing the price of silver has been increasing steadily for the past few months and still one who invests in it can earn good profits within the next two to three years. Both coins looks so beautiful and amazing.

Yes, expensive but attractive. yes, agree with you, the reverse side should have some design on it as well.

My local shop was running low this week when I went. I get paid on Wednesday and will have to try and pick some stuff up.

Good thing it doesn't affect my routine purchases!

I'm glad I put in a purchase before this huge spike in demand! SD Bullion has a $500 minimum order price! And they no longer accept crypto. I exchanged some crypto for 17 oz from APMEX before all this craziness, little did I know, it may be my last order for a while!

Oh my, $500. That’s a bit hefty for many people.
