Ethan and Mark were in the sitting room watching a TV series when Mark stood up to the front of the TV to have a clearer view of what they were watching.

I command you to sit down right now! cried Ethan. why and as what? replied Mark. As your leader! says Ethan. Really? Since when were you appointed my leader? Mark asked. since the day I was born, remember I was born before you meaning I am older than you are. I am two years older and that makes me automatically your leader, so sit down now.
Mark being confused and sad moved away from the TV reluctantly but still pondering on what Ethan had said but quickly retorted, "a younger person can be a leader, leadership is not by age or stature but by responsibilities". Says who? asked Ethan. "Says mommy at my fourth birthday celebration" Mark retorted . She said I have the qualities of a leader because I take up responsibilities without being told to do so. I handle whatever is given to me with care and I ensure everything works well around the house unlike you who just sits around watching TV.

Ethan filled with so much fury rose to hand Mark a very articulated slap but was interrupted by their mother who was standing a few steps away listening to their conversation or should I say argument.

"Stop Ethan"! a leader is not easily provoked but even when is, tries to control his temper. A leader lends a listening ear to his followers and is empathetic. A leader shows care and concern towards his followers. He doesn't seem comfort at the detriment of his followers. As a leader you should seek to know why your brother stood in front of the TV instead of yelling at him, then you'd find out that he wasn't having a clearer view at the TV where he sat and then make adjustments to accommodate him.

oh yes mommy , tell him! Mark interrupted. And you, referring to mark, you were wrong by speaking to your elder in such a disrespectful manner, whatever I said at your birthday was to encourage you to do more and not the other way. You both are good leaders because you possess the qualities that make you so. Love and care for each other, that's what leaders do. Now, can you both take a leadership reconciliation hug? Sure mommy! the boys replied as the moved to hug each other. One can only be called a leader when one takes up responsibilities. Lesson learned. Thanks for the read.
