The Genesis of my academic career and Phases of My Academic Endeavours & Ambition.

Education is considered as a basic human necessity, due to its ability and capacity to enlighten the populace of a society. it is one of the most elongated journey in human lives. though the standard of education might differ across the continent due to lack of resources and infrastructure/facility for learning but regardless of the quality of education in any country, it is no doubt that education has proven to be the bedrock of a civilised nation.
In Nigeria for instance, children don't really have a say in their academic journey maybe eventually during the higher institution level. there is no other path than to go to school, growing up in such a society as a child it is hard to explain your reason for going to school, you are only there because your parents wants you to be educated. As we grow older from our naive state of mind, we start having dreams, goals, wishes. thinking beyond our regular state of mind about things we would like to be in the future. Due to this, we start forging our path which will lead us to what to study and eventually we have finally found a reason for going to school, though that doesn't mean what you study for will eventually become your career path, I have seen a student that studied industrial chemistry working in a bank as customer care π as a result of job scarcity.

One of the most fascinating thing about life is anything is possible, as long as you can dream it, you can become it. it is full of countless possibilities beyond what a human mind can comprehend. That is why most times I'm usually against the whole idea of being a perfectionist because nothing in life is constant apart from deathπ , anything in life is subjected to change which means what you plan for today might change tomorrow and based on that you have to continuously compromise your plans just to fit the new situation you have found yourself, you can't have a rigid mindset of this is how I have been doing it and I will continue to do it that way. life doest work like that, you can't keep doing something the same way and expect different results.
During my teenage days, I had everything planned out in my head in details, from the school I'm going to attend, my dream job, my dream career, time of marriage e.t.c it was an extraordinary laid out plan and strategy but life happened π. everything started going a different way from what I planned the moment I could not get admission into my dream school, most especially a university. I had a lot of hopes and dreams about the course I would love to study in the university, first it was Law, then it changed to political science, eventually mass communication.

After waiting for about two years without getting admission into the university of my choice and finally a polytechnic named gateway Polytechnic Saapade Ogun State sent me admission request based on my jamb score, at that moment I didn't even care if it was not a university all I care about is leaving home. In Nigeria, Political science or Law can only be studied in universities which narrowed my option down to mass communication, which is available in Polytechnics. In my family, we are not really a fan of polytechnics because my cousins and elder brother all attended a university.
Despite being glad that I have finally gotten admission, it was not really worth celebrating, it was not as if my parents were against it but I just felt a little bit inferior to others in my family that attended Universities. the funny thing is, you can't really blame people for looking down on polytechnic students, those days companies and employers always value B.Sc (A degree for University graduate) more than N.D or HND (A diploma certificate for Polytechnic students) so people feel there are better chances of getting a job if you attended a university but recently some jobs still require a B.Sc holder but most jobs and employers these days are more interested in the skill and capabilities of an individual more than their certificate, now it is about what can you offer?
My parents, most especially my maternal grandmother keeps cheering up, thanks to that the thought of being inferior reduced significantly. After my first year in gateway Polytechnic, the next thing on the academic calendar was S.I.W.E.S (Student industrial work experience scheme) A compulsory 6 months program for all polytechnic students after the first year, followed by I.T (industrial training) after the second year. I was privileged to undergo my siwes program at Lagos traffic radio, which seems like a dream come true for most broadcast student.

After my S.I.W.E.S program I went back to school for my national diploma did my Industrial training too at Lagos tragic radio, at least part of it before I decided to try out other available opportunities. Those were days when I so much dream of becoming a journalist due to the cruelty my childhood community suffered from the hands of powerful men who have grown stronger by silencing the masses. I never really knew what being a journalist means when I was a kid or the existence of such profession/career was neither known to me. All I wanted was to be a whistle blower, someone who is in position to expose the illicit act and atrocities committed by this powerful men and women. an incident occurred during my industrial training in Lagos traffic radio which changed my mentality about the profession, I shared the details on my blog about a year ago.

Eventually I went back to school for my Higher national diploma in mass communication at Moshood Abiola polytechnic, it wasn't because I desired to be a journalist. my major aim was to acquire my HND certificate for employment opportunities and see how it goes from there. February last year I was able to complete my higher national diploma but due to delays from the school management mobilisation for NYSC was postponed till this year.
Though over the years I have found different areas and career I'm interested in based on the skill set I posses but my greatest niche as always been business/investment, film production/scripting and research methodology. I'm still unable to decide which area I would choose to further more in order to acquire more knowledge about the field. probably before I'm done with my NYSC program I would be capable of picking my area of focus or I might just take it all π . Knowledge is never too much and having multiple skill to create multi-source of income is the greatest route to achieve financial independence.

Only you want to be all these?
Well they're all good areas and viable too and you don't really need to wait for employment, you'd rather be an employer of labor.
