It is the beginning of another year and this is my first post for the year Happy New year Everyone, hope you all had a wonderful new year celebration, well if you ask me, mine was not really extraordinary and spectacular as you might think, it was just fine. you might be thinking what happened πŸ˜‚? To quench your curiosity let me walk you through my New year activities in details.

As a regular Christian we tend to celebrate our cross over night in the church which take place between 31st and 1st of January. it is an extraordinary religious and spiritual activity, where Christians across the world gather in their own domain to thank God for seeing the end of a year and commit the coming year in the hands of the lord. you can call it a religious culture among the Christians because I and my family have been doing this before I even know the meaning of it.

Just like every cross over night, it was majestic and full of praises. the cross over night lasted till 2am on Sunday morning which is on the first of January. Our church is not too far from our house, so immediately after the cross over night we went straight home. Though the church activity was not too tiring but the harmattan made it difficult to cope, my legs were so heavy and I could barely breath, My walk home was not so pleasant, immediately I got home I couldn't even dare take a bath I went straight to my room and slept off immediately.

I woke up around 8am, it was Sunday morning thank God my mum and cousin took charge of the cooking by the time I woke up the food and everything else was already available, it was a perfect timing πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚. On a regular Sunday we would have prepared for church and everything else will follow but this Sunday was pretty different due to the fact that we have been going to church since Friday night (last Friday vigil), then the cross over night on Saturday/sinday. I guess the family just decided to have a morning devotion as usual an event I didn't participate because I was asleep. As soon as I woke up I had my bath, brush my teeth and I went straight for the foodπŸ˜‚. My dad and the rest of the family were sitting round on the dinning table which is a culture in my family to always share grace together before eating especially on a day such as first day of the year. I stood behind my dad, say a few a Amen and I went back to bed with my food at hand. I couldn't shake off the cold, it was a little overwhelming for me.

In the afternoon, I came out it was sunny already, my elder brother, siblings and my maternal cousins were outside playing games, alcohol was involved that is one thing my brother is extremely good atπŸ˜‚πŸ€£. we played chess, ludo, monopoly and draft, whoever losses takes a cup of royal circle whisky. I lost a couple of times, when the alcohol began to take effect I had to quit, I can't afford to be cold and drunk, I was also careful with food because didn't want to repeat last year mistake by ending up with indigestion πŸ˜‚πŸ€£πŸ˜‚.

It seems everyone noticed I wasn't really feeling like my self due to the harmattan, they just let me be without getting me involved in any activities or else I volunteered. in a way I would say my celebration of the new was fine but it didn't really go as planned because I had a lot of fun expectations for the new year celebration.

That is all about mine, How was your new year celebration, hope it was better than mine? feel free to share the details in the comment section.

I was in church then with my friends. It was a special night honestly because I crossed the year with people dear to my heart.

cross over night is not a religious festival I had heard of before - certainly it's not one the bible lays down for Christians - so it was interesting to hear about it.

as was the effect of the harmattan on you. this is a weather event I have only learnt about in the last few weeks and have been busy tucking away how it affects folks for future writing

Yeah it is not written or prescribed by the Bible, it is an event created by Christians to celebrate the new year.

And also I have low tolerance for cold.

I appreciate your comment.

Harmattan got the better part of your celebration I must sayπŸ˜‚
It's still nice you participated in the game and drank... These are little memories we hold on for long
