Enough is Enough

Being the last born of the house can be so annoying, apart from the fact that you have many chores to do, you have to be the one to greet everyone in the house every morning, afternoon, evening, and no one will greet you first except if they forget or got overwhelmed by something. And if you're not careful, they type of look you will get when they remember will fix your senses

While I was a kid that thing has been bothering me so much but unfortunately, I have nothing to do, just imagine, even someone who is older than me with just a year is expecting me to pay homage to her. Sometimes I wish I can add my age or beg God to send all my siblings back to the womb so that I can come out first.

I have always wanted to feel what they were feeling each time I come before them and say big sis good morning and they shine their teeth like those advertising toothpaste.. they think I am showing respect they don't know how angry I am inside. You see the problem is not that I don't want to take my place as the last born of the house but I want some respect too, come on..

Since I waited patiently for them to respect me by greeting me first some times and no one seem to be taking me serious, I decided that I was going to find my way out. I had my plans laid down perfectly well. The first thing I did was play sick . that morning , I refused to go out when the day broke.

I wrapped my self in the blanket like I was cold. My dad is a strict man, in the entire house, it is just his room that has a door apart from the door in our sitting room, he did that so that he can just badge into our rooms anytime to see what we are doing.

As a smart kid, that turned to an advantage for me, when I noticed my dad was approaching my room I started shivering and acting like someone who fever wants to terminate, he entered the room and called my name, ah!! I did as if I didn't notice his presence and guess what happened? when he drew near, he said Good morning, what is wrong with you? When I heard that, I opened one of my eyes with excess joy rumbling in my heart as said I think it's fever. He said sorry and left.. immediately he stepped out of the room I leaped out of the bed.

Finally, so even the big man of the house can greet me, hehe! I know what to do then, since I achieve my first plan, I didn't allow dad to leave the house before I came out of the room and started doing my chores.

You know why? If him let him go out, the next thing I will see is our family doctor, you know they said prevention is better than cure. When he saw me he was surprised , and started asking questions. As a smart boy, I told him I don't know what he is talking about, all I can remember was that I had a dream which I cant even recall that's all.

Guess what, the man felt relieved and said till I return from work as he drove his car to work, mission accomplished. But they said a kid will always remain a kid, I thought I was so smart but my tricks were not smart enough.

This time around it was the entire house I wanted to get the good morning from but it went wrong, I played sick as usual and when my mother entered the room instead of good morning, before I could open my eyes very well, I saw myself in the car with everybody in the house, where are we headed mom, I asked? she said sorry my son we will arrive there soon.

It didn't reach five minutes when we entered a place I saw written on the sign board, General Hospital. Hahah!! Are you kidding me? Who is sick here?

Initially I was lying down, but when the car entered that place and parked, I stood up and sat down, I have to start greeting everyone. With the biggest smile of my life, I said mommy Good morning, how are you? Hope you are fine? while shining my teeth.

No one listened to me, I turned to our first born and greeted her but she didn't answer she dropped from the car and helped me out of. When Dad came he said let take him to the male ward before the doctor comes.

At this point, I broke the silence and said is it not greetings? I don't want it anymore, please take me home, while I was saying that, tears was dripping from my eyes.

My mother said Ah!! He is talking anyhow, he is hallucinating, it must be high fever and typhoid, call the doctor before I loose my son. That was how I took ten injections and given bunch of drugs for nothing. I learnt my lessons since then. Now I am a good boy, I can greet you ten times until you answer. In fact enn, I love doing it😆
